They love using the sensory tubes by filling the tubes up with unit themed manipulative items (feathers, spiders, mini erasures, pompoms, etc). \r\nThey also like to use the view finders to learn about life cycles, and lastly, they enjoy exploring all the science center items with the magnifying glasses and flashlights. They really get into the scientist mode when they put on the scientist glasses too.\r\nMy next steps for the items donated in this project is to continue to have them be accessible in the science center in each unit I teach, as well as include items in my sensory bin. Regardless of the unit being reinforced, my students just love to explore in a hands-on way.","fullyFundedDate":1756146572240,"projectUrl":"project/a-science-center-for-every-student/9572492/","projectTitle":"A Science Center for Every Student!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Keyes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8465043_orig.png?crop=1000,1000,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721162342420","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8465043"},{"teacherId":9998118,"projectId":9254103,"letterContent":"I would like to thank you for donating to my classroom project. It is incredible to have your support. Your contribution allowed us to delve into the creation of each artists own unique self portraits. \r\nWe printed their photos and then they outlined the key features using sharpie on a clear transparency. We then learned how to paint them using a very old technique called reverse painting. This is like painting on glass where the first layer you paint will be the one that shows on the front. It was a novel concept but all our artists did amazing! \r\nOnce we completed the painting of our self portraits it was time to design a background a frame. We used ink markers and metallic pens to create beautiful colorful designs unique to each artist. \r\nThe final results are truly breathtaking and I am so proud of their hard work! We learned so much through this process. \r\nWe couldn't have done it without your donation so thank you, thank you, thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1734712325870,"projectUrl":"project/creating-identity-through-colorful-self-/8716631/","projectTitle":"Creating Identity Through Colorful Self-Portraits!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gordon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9714833_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725479193119","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9714833"},{"teacherId":8465043,"projectId":8501107,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all your donations! My students have been using our donors choose items to help them learn and grow in a blended learning classroom. For example, my students love their new floor desk with the cushion. A lot of my lessons require my students to sit on the rug and look at anchor charts to finish their assignments, so this floor seat is perfect for students who love to work on the rug or just prefer to have an authentic choice in where they sit and work. My students also are making good use of the clipboards. We use them for whole group rug lessons and write around the room activities on their personal playlists. \r\nWe were able to trade in a some items for other items, including velcro dots to help put up write around the room pictures, a wonderful step stool to help my students reach their playlist folders, and large post it note anchor charts to help us with whole group lessons.\r\nThe star charts are very useful when it comes to keeping track of my students goal setting. We use these charts to track what number of playlists my students have done. We can see and talk about how much closer we are to earning a party day once each row category (for example, first playlist completion) is done. it is very motivating for my students to see how they are performing/progressing and how their classmates are also performing and learning.\r\nLastly, a replacement item that I added was a classroom microphone. My students LOVE using this during morning meeting greetings and it helps some of my quieter students be able to speak louder and clear so the whole class can hear. They think its super silly that we use a microphone and really like the echo effect.","fullyFundedDate":1731522379896,"projectUrl":"project/when-kindergarteners-discover-blended-le/8501107/","projectTitle":"When Kindergarteners Discover Blended Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Keyes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8465043_orig.png?crop=1000,1000,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721162342420","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8465043"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_8877","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":922,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.5,"schoolId":8877,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Doss Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Doss Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/austin-independent-school-district/doss-elementary-school/8877"}
