The cubbies in my classroom have been a total game-changer. Before we had them, my students had to use outdoor hooks for their backpacks, which caused a few challenges: names getting worn off by the weather, confusion about recess since the hooks were near the playground, and more.\r\n\r\nNow, thanks to the new cubbies, my students have grown so much in their independence. They quickly learned which cubby is theirs, and they're now able to put away all their belongings on their own, even extra clothes they take off during the day. When it's time for lunch, they grab their lunch boxes independently and put them back with little to no reminders. Some students even take the initiative to get a new diaper from their bags and let an adult know when they need a change outside of our usual schedule!\r\n\r\nThese cubbies have truly helped build independence and important vocational skills. The name labels inside have made it even easier, and some of my verbal students proudly point out their own cubbies every day. The new shelves have made such a positive difference in our classroom. Because of them, my students can now store more activities and toys, which has opened the door to so much joyful learning. They've been diving into dramatic play with Barbie dolls and Potato Heads, and practicing fine motor skills by building tall towers with wooden blocks and magnetic tiles.\r\n\r\nThe shelves have also helped us build routines around cleaning up and taking care of our space. We're still working on getting items into the right bins, but my students are now consistently putting things away and taking pride in keeping our classroom safe, welcoming, and collaborative.\r\n\r\nWe've also been able to create a more defined fine-motor and block center, an area the students absolutely love. It's become a favorite place for social play and community building, especially when they're racing cars on the track carpet. The shelves have even created a cozy spot where students can take a moment for themselves when they need a little break.\r\n\r\nThese shelves have truly transformed our classroom, and we are so grateful for your generosity.
