A recent lab stood out because students were able to clearly view specimens with far less frustration than in the past. The improved optics and reliability of the microscopes allowed students to spend more time making careful observations, sketching what they saw, and discussing their findings instead of troubleshooting equipment. This shift has made our labs more focused, engaging, and meaningful for students.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new microscopes, they were excited and noticeably more confident. Many commented on how much clearer the images were compared to our older equipment, and students who previously struggled with microscopes were eager to participate. Next, students will continue using these microscopes to examine different types of cells and tissues and to explore how structure relates to function. They will build stronger observation and analysis skills that will carry over into future life science units. These microscopes are already helping create a more authentic and positive lab experience, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to provide this level of learning for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1759495437328,"projectUrl":"project/7th-grade-microscopes/9485454/","projectTitle":"7th Grade Microscopes","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Golden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10087018"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43939","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":660,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":43939,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dodd Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dodd Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/cheshire-public-school-district/dodd-middle-school/43939"}
