STEAM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics, is a class where students combine their interests and knowledge to solve engineering challenges and tackle real-world issues. The items funded are intended to enhance this experience by providing the right tools for students to work more efficiently while developing valuable skills.\r\n\r\nWhile we're fortunate to have 24 Chromebooks for student use, we were lacking external mice and mouse pads. Research shows that wireless mice are particularly helpful for our younger students (grades K and 1) as they develop the motor skills needed to navigate a mouse. The STEAM classroom features science lab tables with black tops, which can interfere with the mouse's light sensor, making a mouse pad essential for proper functionality.\r\n\r\nSince receiving your generous donation and the additional tools, students have become more engaged in their STEAM classwork. There's been less frustration from struggling to access online resources, and Chromebooks have enabled students to explore places they may never have been able to visit, such as inside a factory or the African Savannah, or even conducting virtual science investigations. The new equipment has minimized challenges related to both gross and fine motor skills, helping students focus more on their learning.\r\n\r\nInitially, there was a bit of a learning curve, but since then, students have fully embraced using these devices. Even the most resistant learners have shown increased engagement.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made all of this possible. You are a silent partner in the education of these students, and we truly appreciate your support.","fullyFundedDate":1731548595872,"projectUrl":"project/full-steam-into-21st-century-skills/8851463/","projectTitle":"Full STEAM into 21st Century Skills!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sylvia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9788440_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y280&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735224921012","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9788440"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_47384","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":468,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":47384,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dighton Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dighton Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/dighton-rehoboth-regional-school-district/dighton-elementary-school/47384"}
