The words children hear, the stories they explore and the conversations they share all help build critical brain connections. Supporting early literacy involves reading, singing, talking and playing with young children to cultivate language skills, curiosity and the lifelong love of learning. The encouragement of daily reading for short periods fosters the love of books. Engaging in simple activities with writing, drawing and storytelling with interactive props in daily routines help build language-rich environments. Again, reading with young children sparks imagination, builds confidence and strengthens relationships. Every story shared is a step toward helping them understand the world around them. By receiving the book making supplies and storytelling props has ensured every child in my classroom has had the opportunity to develop these essential skills. In turn, this is encouraging our families to make reading a daily routine and to celebrate the small moments that make a big difference. When reading in school and at the home setting, we read, talk and sing to our little ones. We are not just teaching them words, we are shaping their future. Together my classroom has grown tremendously in their foundation for learning and has been a game changer with early reading practices. Children are imitating staff by making silly voices, imitating sounds and vocalizations and gestures that has helped all of my students especially my special needs children to continue to learn and make new connections.","fullyFundedDate":1770934698882,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-literacy/9863663/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paula","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10333560_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763599211267","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333560"},{"teacherId":10333107,"projectId":9859755,"letterContent":"On behalf of our preschool classroom, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous donations of books, letter activities, and learning resources. Your kindness and support have made a meaningful impact on our students and our classroom environment!\r\n\r\nThe children immediately gravitated toward the new materials with excitement and curiosity. They especially enjoy the hands on letter activities and engaging resources that help them become familiar with letters and early literacy skills in fun and interactive ways. It has been so fun to watch them explore, learn, and build confidence every day through the materials you provided!\r\n\r\nYour donations are not only helping our students grow academically, but they are also fostering a love of learning at an early age. We truly appreciate your generosity and your investment in our classroom community.\r\n\r\nThank you so much again for helping make learning exciting and accessible for our preschoolers. My students have had opportunities to experience literacy in different formats and have fun while doing it. They have had opportunities to explore beginning letter sounds, tell stories by using visuals and explore different books. They also can listen to stories even when I can't read it to them at the moment. All of these opportunities are helping them fall in love with reading and giving them experiences they may not have at home. \r\n\r\nBy helping support my students to love literacy and reading at a young age, you are helping set them up for success in the future. Early literacy provides a foundation that children need to support them in understanding that books are important and meaningful. It helps them see that spoken words can be written down and understood. Listening to books and hearing different stories will help grow their language skills and provide them with a plethora of words to use in their everyday speech. By giving my students these opportunities you are helping me provide fun and engaging opportunities. These opportunities help them love to read and not just see it as something they have to do. They will see it as something they get to do!","fullyFundedDate":1770155675426,"projectUrl":"project/enriching-little-minds-through-storytell/9853831/","projectTitle":"Enriching Little Minds Through Storytelling and Exciting Experiences","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pickle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10327475"},{"teacherId":10316205,"projectId":9838972,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students have been using the new materials every day as part of our small-group learning and sensory-based instruction. Many of my students are young children with disabilities who learn best through hands-on exploration, repetition, and visual supports. These resources have helped them stay engaged longer, participate more independently, and feel successful during activities that were previously challenging. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who typically avoids group work sit and complete an activity from start to finish with a huge smile on his face—something that would not have been possible without these materials.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, their excitement was immediate. They eagerly explored the materials, pointing, smiling, and vocalizing as they discovered new textures, colors, and ways to interact. For some students, simply touching and manipulating the items was a major step forward in engagement and communication. Others were motivated to follow directions, take turns, and participate alongside their peers. These moments of curiosity and joy are powerful indicators of learning for my students.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to use these resources to build foundational skills such as communication, fine motor development, social interaction, and problem solving. The materials will support upcoming lessons and ongoing classroom routines, allowing my students to practice skills in meaningful, developmentally appropriate ways. Your generosity has truly expanded what is possible in our classroom, and because of you, my students are learning, growing, and thriving every single day.
