While many of our donors love to read (we certainly do, too!), I'd love to share what teaching with this novel looks like and the powerful learning happening behind the scenes.\r\n\r\nThrough this text, students are developing critical reading skills such as identifying theme, analyzing character development, making inferences, and citing strong textual evidence to support their thinking. As we follow Harry's journey from feeling ordinary and overlooked to discovering his strengths and sense of belonging, students are learning how authors build characters through actions, dialogue, and internal thoughts. We explore figurative language, symbolism, and how setting shapes mood and conflict. These are foundational skills that help students become thoughtful, analytical readers across all genres.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and collaborative. You might see students gathered in small groups debating whether Snape can be trusted, tracking clues like detectives, or journaling about moments that connect to their own lives. Sometimes we read aloud together to model fluency and expression; other times students read independently, completely immersed in the wizarding world. Our discussions are rich with predictions, questions, and \"aha!\" moments. The room buzzes with curiosity.\r\n\r\nThere are particular students who have especially come alive through this book. One student who previously struggled to stay engaged now eagerly volunteers to read aloud, practicing voices for different characters. Another, who often hesitated to participate in discussions, confidently shares thoughtful insights about friendship and bravery. I have students who rush in each morning asking, \"Are we reading today?\"—a question every teacher loves to hear. For some, this is the first time they've experienced being unable to \"put a book down.\"\r\n\r\nBeyond literacy skills, this project has sparked meaningful conversations about courage, loyalty, identity, and standing up for what is right. Students see parts of themselves in the characters. They are learning that even ordinary people can do extraordinary things.\r\n\r\nYour generosity did more than provide books—you opened a door to imagination, confidence, and a deeper love of reading. Thank you for believing in my students and making this magical journey possible.","fullyFundedDate":1763474805285,"projectUrl":"project/wonderful-world-of-harry-potter/9635799/","projectTitle":"Wonderful world of Harry Potter","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Samano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10209776"},{"teacherId":10234729,"projectId":9668520,"letterContent":"Thank you to the Campbell Foundation for all the materials from my project for my classroom. The materials have made a meaningful and immediate impact on student engagement and learning. \r\n\r\nThe students were so excited to see everything for our classroom. They have loved being able to use the magnetic blocks. Students are building countless structures from simple shapes to elaborate towers and imaginative creations. Through this hands-on play, they are developing spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and early engineering. Students work together, negotiate roles, and work through challenges when structures fall. These moments build perseverance and social-emotional skills, which are essential in kindergarten. The materials provided hands-on opportunities that allowed students to actively participate rather than passively observe.\r\n\r\nThe materials have also helped create a more inclusive classroom environment. Students who benefit from visual supports and kinesthetic learning now have access to tools that meet their needs. I have noticed increased participation from quieter students. \r\n\r\nOverall, donation from the Campbell Foundation has enhanced student engagement, deepened comprehension, and supported a more joyful and equitable learning environment. These materials are not just supplies—they are tools that are helping students build confidence, independence, and a love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1763474841909,"projectUrl":"project/bright-beginners/9668520/","projectTitle":"Bright Beginners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ayala","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10234729"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58939","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":609,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"33.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.7,"schoolId":58939,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Del Rio Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Del Rio Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/rosedale-union-school-district/del-rio-elementary-school/58939"}
