These materials allowed my students to safely heat and observe different metal chloride solutions to see how each produced a distinct flame color. Instead of learning only from pictures or notes, students were able to directly experience how different elements emit specific colors when heated. This hands-on investigation made the concept of chemical properties come alive, and many students described it as one of the most exciting science labs they have ever done.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project has extended well beyond the flame lab itself. The test tube racks have already been used in multiple other experiments throughout the year, helping students stay organized, rotate materials efficiently, and work more independently in lab groups. The alcohol lamps have allowed us to explore controlled heating in a variety of safe and meaningful ways. These tools have quickly become essential, everyday resources in our classroom, supporting inquiry based learning and allowing students to take a more active role in the lab instead of simply observing demonstrations.\r\n\r\nMany students, including those who are still developing English language skills, were able to show understanding through observation, color comparisons, and group discussions. This donation has made science more accessible, more engaging, and more memorable for all learners. Thank you again for investing in our students, you helped create experiences that genuinely sparked curiosity and built confidence in their ability to do real science. \r\n\r\nP.S. I've been able to use the test tube racks in multiple other exoeriments and will upload some of those photos as well. My camera doesn't do a great job of showing the colors, so I will upload a video my students took of me denonstrating the activity with a blow torch too.","fullyFundedDate":1753470773659,"projectUrl":"project/flame-lab-chemical-property-of-flammabi/9465800/","projectTitle":"Flame Lab: Chemical Property of Flammability","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Streib","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9818321_orig.jpg?crop=420,420,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730148331972","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9818321"},{"teacherId":8601315,"projectId":8715244,"letterContent":"The resources you helped to provide for my classes have been an astronomical help! Thanks to your generosity, my students were able to have materials ready for them for each of our projects- including both pre-cut paper and cardboard. Without new scissors and a sharp paper cutter, this preparation would not have been possible.\r\n\r\nWhile I was prepping for our final projects of the semester, cutting paper and cardboard, many students came to my workspace and asked if they could help! They were excited by the prospect of learning a new tool. I cannot wait for all of them to get to experience the magic of some good cardboard scissors- that will come next semester!\r\n\r\nIn the coming months, students will have the opportunity to continue growing their skills by constructing various items out of cardboard. This conceptualization and creation of 3-dimensional objects only expands their understanding of the world.
