Their curiosity immediately drew them to the materials, and we quickly found ways to incorporate them into our daily instruction. These tiny tools have become a wonderful way to capture attention and encourage students to participate in learning activities.\r\n\r\nWe are using the mini erasers during hands-on lessons to practice skills such as counting, sorting, matching, identifying colors and shapes, following directions, and making choices. They also provide opportunities for students to strengthen fine-motor skills while engaging with academic concepts. One of our favorite moments is watching a student carefully select, move, and organize the erasers while proudly demonstrating what they know.\r\n\r\nThe erasers have also helped make challenging tasks feel more approachable and fun. Students are more willing to participate when they can interact with materials they find interesting, and we love seeing their excitement when they successfully complete a task.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue incorporating the mini erasers into small-group instruction and individualized learning activities. We will build on the skills students are practicing now by increasing the complexity of sorting, counting, matching, and following multi-step directions.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping us create meaningful learning experiences. Your generosity has brought engaging, hands-on learning opportunities into our classroom and given our students a fun way to build important skills.\r\n\r\nWhen our new puzzles arrived, the students were excited to explore them right away. They eagerly sorted through the pieces, studied the pictures, and began working together to figure out where each piece belonged. What might look like simple play has become a meaningful learning experience. As students work on puzzles, they are practicing problem-solving, visual-spatial skills, fine-motor coordination, patience, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the puzzles during small-group activities and choice time while encouraging students to work collaboratively, a skill that often presents a challenge. We are excited to see how these skills transfer to other areas of our classroom and learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students the opportunity to learn, explore, and grow through play. We held two sessions, both of which reached max capacity. Our Exceptional Ambassadors—a special education student leadership group—led the sessions with flair. They helped with everything from preparation and organization to setup, cleanup, and supporting participants throughout this meaningful awareness activity. The positive energy was truly contagious.\r\n\r\nOne especially heartwarming moment stood out: a neurotypical student proudly showed me the bracelet he crafted and shared that he planned to give it to a special student with Down syndrome. When I asked if he'd like a bag for the gift, he replied, \"No. I want to put it on her myself.\"\r\n\r\nEven now, after the honored Down Syndrome Awareness Day has passed, students continue to model their bracelets, spreading awareness and showing appreciation for ALL students.\r\n\r\nThe success of this project highlights the acceptance that students can and want to give to all students. The morning after the box arrived, our custodians assembled the carrel before students showed up for school. (Thank you to our amazing custodians!) It blends in beautifully with the rest of our classroom like it was meant to be. Its shiny new polish adds vibrancy to the space.\r\n\r\nThe carrel was immediately a go-to spot for a couple of students needing a focused space to take their test. For others, it has been a quiet work or \"office\" space for them. One student asked, \"May I sit there because I really need to focus, so I can do well on this test?\" What great self-awareness and use of resources. The kids loved picking out their own color and \"shopping\" for the supplies. They excitedly brainstormed ways to use the bonus outside pocket. More importantly, it has made learning more engaging for my students.\r\n\r\nSome fan favorites are the dice-based games like roll-and-read words and sentences and spinner games such as spin-and-spell words.
