These resources have already transformed the way my students engage in math learning and collaboration.\r\n\r\nWe are using the whiteboards daily as part of our \"Thinking Classroom\" routines. During math, students work in small groups at their boards to solve problems together, show their thinking in multiple ways, and explain their strategies to one another. One powerful moment came during a recent word problem lesson—students were asked to solve a multi-step addition problem. Instead of working quietly at their desks, they immediately gathered at the boards, drew models, tried different strategies, and revised their thinking together. I saw students who are usually hesitant in math confidently sharing ideas and building on their peers' thinking in real time.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the standing whiteboards, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They literally cheered and asked, \"Are we going to use these every day?!\" Many of them couldn't wait to get started and began testing them out before I even finished explaining how we would use them. The novelty quickly turned into purposeful engagement as they realized these boards were tools for teamwork and learning.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building strong problem-solving routines and mathematical communication skills. Students will soon begin rotating through structured thinking tasks where they are responsible for not only solving problems, but also clearly explaining and justifying their reasoning to their group. We will also begin using gallery walks so students can compare strategies across groups and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom where every student has a voice, every idea is valued, and mathematical thinking is visible. We are so grateful for your support and belief in our learners.","fullyFundedDate":1757515604181,"projectUrl":"project/help-mrs-stout-build-a-thinking-classro/9428550/","projectTitle":"Help Mrs. Stout Build a Thinking Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stout","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7878885_orig.jpg?crop=1008,1008,x249,y393&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1685030969014","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7878885"},{"teacherId":3554619,"projectId":9502021,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom book clubs have become an exciting and meaningful part of our learning. Students gather in small groups to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another as they dive into rich texts. It has been especially rewarding to see reluctant readers become more confident and enthusiastic about participating, while stronger readers have grown as leaders by encouraging their peers and modeling thoughtful conversations. When the new seating pillows arrived, my students were beyond excited. The moment I brought them into the classroom, they couldn't stop smiling and asking, \"Can we sit on them today?\" We made a big event out of unpacking them together, and right away, they began choosing their favorite spots around the room to sit and read. It was such a heartwarming moment — the classroom instantly felt more comfortable, cozy, and full of joy.\r\n\r\nNow, the seating pillows have become one of the most loved parts of our reading time. Every day, students grab their favorite pillow, find a quiet spot, and dive into their books. It's amazing to see how something as simple as a comfortable place to sit has transformed the way they read. They're more focused, relaxed, and eager to spend extra time exploring new stories. One of my students even said, \"It feels like reading at home!\" — and that's exactly the environment I hoped to create.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our reading lessons, the pillows are helping build a stronger sense of community and excitement for learning. Students are already asking if we can use them during other subjects too! Your donation has brought comfort, joy, and motivation to our classroom — and we are so grateful.
