These kids love having books read to them and the fact that they picked out all these books makes it even more special. For the most part they LOVED all them all. But most of them didn't care for the Legend of Sutro Tower as much as they thought they would. A few kids got a kick out of it, but they were hoping it was a real legend - not the fantasy which it was. They also felt let down by the illustrations inside the book because they thought the cover illustration was amazing. I used it as a teaching moment - explaining that even grown-ups don't love every book they read because everyone has their own opinion, so now they're all pumped up. Coincidentally we are writing imaginative narrative fantasy stories during our writing block this month, so they are super critical. I bet they think they could have done a better job.
