Instead of thinking only about making an artwork, we began to think about the act of creating as part of who we are. Rubin's words gave us permission to slow down, notice, and trust that our ideas have value; even when they feel uncertain or incomplete.\r\n\r\nIn the studio, this has meant that our work feels less about \"getting it right\" and more about exploring. We have taken risks, allowed mistakes to guide us, and discovered new directions we may not have tried before. The book reminded us that the process is just as important as the final piece, and this shift has helped us see our own growth in each stage of making.\r\n\r\nDiscussions in class also helped us connect more deeply with each other. Sharing responses to Rubin's reflections opened conversations about doubt, confidence, imagination, and voice. These conversations carried into our art-making, making the studio feel like a space where we are not just producing work, but learning how to be present and open as creative people.\r\n\r\nThe experience of reading together and creating alongside the book has shown us that art is more than a subject in school, it is a way of noticing, questioning, and being in the world.","fullyFundedDate":1711591332635,"projectUrl":"project/the-creative-act-a-way-of-being-book-st/8286416/","projectTitle":"The Creative Act: A Way of Being Book Study","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Snider","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7147183_orig.jpg?crop=604,604,x436,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1668705483912","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7147183"},{"teacherId":7463670,"projectId":8748559,"letterContent":"I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. We raised the needed money by Monday, the laptop was ordered Tuesday, and I arrived the next week (2 weeks before the competition). With the laptop in our possession we were able to design our fish drive station around it. This year's competition is REEFSCAPE and we have named our robot \"Sharkbait\". The fish drive station continues that theme. The clear acrylic top was laser cut and the diamond plate aluminum back was CNC routed by the students. With some LED lights taped on, the drive team now has a distinctive image as well as a brand new, reliable, drive station to take to the game field each match.","fullyFundedDate":1741036512262,"projectUrl":"project/robotics-team-laptop-for-drive-station-a/9137340/","projectTitle":"Robotics Team Laptop for Drive Station at FRC Competition","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5292182_orig.jpg?crop=172,172,x0,y23&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740857980940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5292182"},{"teacherId":9230335,"projectId":8578009,"letterContent":"The projectile materials have had a positive impact on our IB Physics classroom. Now the students can tie their learning directly to hands on activities. \r\n\r\nAnother benefit is that students can use these materials to design thier own experiments.
