For many of my students, hands-on, real-world experiences are the most powerful way to learn—and this incubator has given them the chance to witness the life cycle in a way they will never forget.\r\n\r\nWhen the incubator arrived, my students' eyes lit up with excitement. They carefully helped set it up, checked the eggs, and began counting down the days. Each morning, they eagerly ask to check the temperature and humidity, record their observations, and share predictions about what will happen next. Even students who often struggle with focus or behavior are motivated and calm when working with the incubator. One student whispered, \"I can't believe we're really going to see them hatch!\"—a moment that showed just how meaningful this project is for them.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we're preparing for hatch day and creating \"chick journals\" where students will document their observations once the chicks arrive. This project has not only taught science content, but also patience, responsibility, and empathy. Your generosity has made this incredible experience possible, and we are so grateful for the joy and growth you've brought into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1745847082158,"projectUrl":"project/hatching-growth-hands-on-learning-with/9151662/","projectTitle":"Hatching Growth: Hands-On Learning With a Classroom Incubator","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9586898_orig.jpg?crop=770,770,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741636982014","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-hnyoung"},{"teacherId":10000262,"projectId":9258105,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom tortoise now has a safe, comfortable, and enriching home! It turned into a hands-on science project where they learned about animal care, habitat design, and the responsibility that comes with taking care of a living creature.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the supplies, their faces lit up. They immediately began planning where everything should go and how to make his home as cozy as possible. Some even took turns \"welcoming\" him into his new space! Since then, they've been carefully observing his behavior and recording their notes in our class science journal.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to create enrichment activities for our tortoise—like safe climbing areas and foraging challenges—while continuing to study reptiles and their needs.
