From the moment the materials arrived, the students were captivated by the vibrant book covers and the soothing, engaging voices on the audio recordings. For many of my students who struggle with expressive and receptive language, this center has become a vital tool for improving comprehension and vocabulary. One student, who typically avoids group activities, now eagerly walks over to the listening center during reading time and follows along with the book, pointing to pictures and turning pages with confidence. The combination of visual and auditory input has helped reinforce language concepts in a way that is accessible and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first experienced the listening center, their reactions ranged from wide-eyed curiosity to joyful giggles as they heard familiar stories read aloud. It was heartwarming to see them so engaged. This center has quickly become a favorite part of our day, helping students build attention, listening skills, and a love for books. Moving forward, we plan to integrate the listening center into themed literacy units, where students will listen to stories related to our classroom topics and then complete sensory or art activities connected to the story. Your generous contribution has made it possible for my students to connect with literature in a way that meets their unique learning needs—thank you for opening up a world of stories for them.","fullyFundedDate":1740334709537,"projectUrl":"project/accessible-reading-for-all-levels/9123177/","projectTitle":"Accessible Reading for All Levels!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chavez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9089852_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740371237222","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9089852"},{"teacherId":9089852,"projectId":9123042,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kind donation! Without you I would have never been able to afford this light table. My students enjoy it so much! It helps them calm down and regulate Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed into a more engaging and dynamic learning environment. The new resources have made an immediate impact. Our students have embraced them with enthusiasm. One memorable moment was during a recent sensory lesson when students used the light table toys to make mazes on the table. Watching their eyes light up when they see the toys reflect with the light of the table is priceless. These materials have opened up opportunities for more interactive, student-centered learning that wasn't possible before.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was overwhelming. They rushed to explore everything. It truly felt like Christmas morning in our classroom! As an Autism teacher it's hard to find something that will work for all of them, and these read a louds do just that! The students that can read, read along, the students who can't read yet listen and get exposed to the letter sounds and words. All of the books have engaging sound effects making it a fun experience for my students.
