They truly look forward to being able to write in their journals. They are so eager to write, that I had to designate a specific time just for journaling DAILY! I had originally planned on giving them time a couple times a week, but I had to make it a daily practice seeing as journaling was in such high demand. \r\n\r\nThe students have also requested to be able to take their journals home! I have allowed it with the condition that they bring it back to be able to journal in class. That became no problem at all because they definitely remembered to bring it back because they looked forward to journaling in class. \r\n\r\nThe privacy boards were also a huge success! They especially use the privacy boards when they need time away from everyone else, to shut out the world, for a moment, so they can think, reflect, and write. \r\n\r\nDear Donor, thanks again for making this project a possibility. It helps them to share their expressions and emotions, too, at times. \r\nThe gift of clay helps my children to build their tiny hand muscles that will enable them to better hold a pencil and other tools to draw and write using fine motor muscles. At first, the clay is hard, and they have to work at it. Then, as it softens, they get to create shapes and letters with their hands more easily, but still with effort to build those muscles. It's a wonderful blend of learning and playing. \r\nThe paint cups are a gift. They keep much of the paint in the cups so student work does not drip over their designs.
