Thank you so much for affording my students the opportunity to have these things.\r\n\r\nThey have new dolls and dollhouse furniture for the 2 very large doll houses we have. That center is always full of students and I often have to monitor who uses that center because everyone wants a turn - especially now that there are new dolls and furniture. Creative play is so good for young children and these items foster that play.\r\n\r\nThey also have 10 wobble cushions. These cushions can be used anywhere in the room for the students to sit on. The students have fun wobbling around and they also enjoy a comfortable place to sit when they are sitting on the floor.\r\n\r\nSome students were able to unpack most of these items with me and were very excited to help and see what was new. The books bought using your donations have been used in whole group instruction, small group centers and independent reading during free library choice activities. \r\n\r\nWhen introducing new texts, especially in an educational, there are several key skills and lessons that can be developed. These skills include: Vocabulary building, Reading comprehension, Inference and prediction, Text structure recognition. \r\n\r\nSeveral students have shown particular enthusiasm for the new books. For instance:\r\nReluctant readers have been especially drawn to graphic novels and high-interest nonfiction—books with visual appeal and engaging topics. Titles like Cat Kid by Dav Pilkey and the National Geographic Kids series have sparked more independent reading.\r\n\r\nYounger students are enjoying the colorful picture books, and some series like Dog Man or The Bad Guys continue to be favorites—creating buzz and even waitlists.\r\n\r\nSome students are also starting to bring books from the new collection into class discussions, which shows they're connecting with the material.","fullyFundedDate":1750476521223,"projectUrl":"project/discover-the-magic-of-reading/9231538/","projectTitle":"Discover the Magic of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Arnink","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6868255_orig.jpg?crop=965,965,x0,y102&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743767199199","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6868255"},{"teacherId":9601815,"projectId":9225675,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your continued support of music in our schools. Students would earn tickets each time they came to my group for their hard work, achievements, and participation. Every Friday I would pull six tickets and students would choose what they wanted for their reward. I have a box of toys, some candy or they could select something they would like for me to crochet for them. Almost always they would choose the crocheted item! They would earn tickets throughout the day in their classrooms and would bring the tickets over to my room to try to win a crocheted item!\r\nStudents who are not even in my group would see these items that I was making and they wanted one. We came up with various goals for them to earn one as well. I have seen huge gains this year in their reading and writing. Many students were coming into second grade reading at a kindergarten level and leaving as an end of second grade leveled reader! We all have appreciated your generosity so much! It has been so much fun to make these little stuffies for the kids and then to see the smile on their face is amazing.
