These new materials have allowed my students to creatively apply what they are reading about in a hands-on, tangible way.\r\nFor example, after reading about animal families the students used the magnetic blocks to build shelters and the toy animals to sort the animal families they had learned about in our reading. Giving my students art stations allows them to have free choice and creative expression that directed art projects cant always provide. Not only have my students been able to explore new media through these stations but they've also been able to explore their own creativity. Stations give them a low stakes, and therefore less intimidating, way to come up with new imaginative projects.\r\nBeyond the wonderful educational impact, these supplies have also provided my students with an incredible amount of joy! My students are always asking about when we will next have a stations day because they have so much fun. I was most surprised to see even my older students really love stations days! It can be a really nice break for my middleschoolers to explore their own creativity and feel less pressured in art, as we do often pursue more challenging projects. I was shocked to see they even love the stations I originally intended for just the little kiddos. Things like Legos and play dough really showed me how creative my students can be and how much they still like to create in a playful way! \r\nOverall, the impact this donation had on my students has been huge, and I can't say thank you enough!","fullyFundedDate":1742330158422,"projectUrl":"project/art-stations-encouraging-creative-choic/9145745/","projectTitle":"Art Stations: Encouraging Creative Choice","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9936795_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741643925936","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9936795"},{"teacherId":2846280,"projectId":7391642,"letterContent":"The Cricut machine was life-changing in our classroom. It provided hands-on learning experiences, converting abstract concepts into tangible, interactive materials that students could manipulate and explore, fostering deeper understanding. It offered students a personalized touch, resulting in greater engagement with materials that were visually appealing or customized with their names, photos, or preferred themes. The machine allowed students to explore their creativity and ownership of projects; when involved in designing and creating, it sparked their creativity, gave them a sense of ownership, and boosted their self-esteem.\r\n\r\nThe Cricut machine enhanced students' skill development. For example, students participated in weeding vinyl, assembling cut pieces, or applying decals, all of which strengthened fine motor control. Working with precise shapes, letters, and images enhanced visual perception and discrimination skills. Designing projects (even with teacher guidance) involved planning, measuring, and troubleshooting, developing critical thinking. Creating projects often required following step-by-step instructions.\r\n\r\nThis tool provided academic support across subjects. We created custom flashcards, alphabet letters, sight word games, personalized story elements, and phonics activities. It enabled us to produce precise geometric shapes, number manipulatives, ten frames, or custom counters, and to cut out anatomy parts, map pieces, historical timelines, or elements for dioramas. It was also crucial in facilitating art projects with precise cuts for stencils, collage elements, or 3D paper crafts. In essence, the Cricut machine empowered me to create a more dynamic, accessible, and personalized learning environment, directly addressing the diverse needs of special education students and promoting their academic, social, and emotional growth.","fullyFundedDate":1685929719097,"projectUrl":"project/cricut-creativity-craze-in-the-classroom/7391642/","projectTitle":"Cricut Creativity Craze in the Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leuck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2846280"},{"teacherId":9935377,"projectId":9296064,"letterContent":"Donating books to students in a low-income school without a library has a profound and lasting impact.
