In our classroom, whiteboard work is part of our daily routine because it increases engagement and gives students the freedom to collaborate. With the new magnetic graph paper, my Math 8 and Algebra students can now graph lines, explore trends, and compare function types directly at the boards in small groups. This has transformed our board work into a more interactive and visually clear experience.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment happened the first day the materials arrived. As soon as I placed the magnetic graphs on the boards, the students immediately gathered around them—curious, excited, and genuinely impressed. Several commented on how \"professional\" the boards looked, and many were eager to jump in and start graphing. It felt like the tools elevated the classroom environment and gave students a sense of pride in their work.\r\n\r\nYour support continues to impact their learning every day. Right now, my students are beginning a unit focused on comparing linear and nonlinear functions. The magnetic graph paper will be essential as they test equations, analyze patterns, and justify their reasoning visually. The ability to stand, discuss, and build graphs together helps them deepen their understanding in ways that paper alone can't.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students. Your contribution has made an immediate and meaningful difference in their learning and in the energy of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758217898549,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-thinking-mathematics-classroo/9485614/","projectTitle":"Building a Thinking Mathematics Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Heller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10087064"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82234","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":536,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":2,"percentAsian":19,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":82234,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Columbia Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Columbia Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/berkeley-heights-public-school-district/columbia-middle-school/82234"}
