The new rug has already transformed our Spanish classroom in meaningful ways. We now begin each day gathered together on the rug for our Spanish morning meeting, a routine that helps students build community while practicing greetings, weather phrases, and new vocabulary in a safe, comfortable space.\r\n\r\nOnce the rug was in place, students immediately began using it as part of their daily routine. They quickly understood that this was now our central gathering area, and the shift to having a defined meeting space made our transitions smoother and more focused. Instead of spreading out across the room, students now know exactly where to go when it is time to begin Spanish, and this consistency has improved engagement and classroom flow from the very first week.\r\n\r\nSince then, our morning meetings have become more organized and joyful. Having a shared space has helped students listen attentively, participate more confidently, and feel grounded in the routine. We have already used the rug for weather discussions, sharing time, movement activities, small-group reading, and calendar routines, all in Spanish. Students are learning to take turns speaking, listen to one another, and practice new language skills with confidence.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to expand our morning meetings to include more thematic vocabulary. In the coming weeks, we will be learning words connected to winter, animals, and habitats, and students will use the rug as their home base for group discussions, partner practice, and storytelling. As the year continues, this rug will serve as the center for whole-group lessons, project sharing, and countless moments of connection.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given us not just a rug, but a gathering place that supports language development, builds social-emotional skills, and helps create a warm classroom community. We are so grateful for the impact you have made.","fullyFundedDate":1747710203793,"projectUrl":"project/sun-rain-and-rug-time-new-classroom-r/9349297/","projectTitle":"Sun, Rain, and Rug Time: New Classroom Rug","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Aybar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8338324_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y107&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1645203201683","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8338324"},{"teacherId":10079937,"projectId":9463881,"letterContent":"Our class just finished the first nine weeks of the school year! And, thanks to your donations at the beginning of the year, our class was immediately set up for success. \r\n\r\nWe use the charging station daily and *knock on wood* have yet to have a student without a charged Chromebook! The Chromebooks are incorporated throughout our day, especially during something we call \"Astro Time\". This is at the end of our day that gives the students a chance to work on their multiplication facts, phonics review, and reading fluency all through apps available on the Chromebook. Those 3 specific areas of learning are not a fan favorite; however, when games are incorporated, especially with targeted instruction, the students are more likely to engage with their lesson! Your donation made it possible for us to purchase much-needed ink for our classroom printer—something that has already made a big difference in our daily learning experience.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students now have access to colorful materials that enhance their understanding and engagement. From bright and inviting math packets to visually rich anchor charts and game boards, the addition of color has transformed our room into a more vibrant and effective learning environment. The ink has allowed us to print out organized packets for each math unit—covering everything from multiplication and long division to financial literacy—ensuring that every student, regardless of their learning level or background, has the tools they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has directly impacted a group of eager, motivated students who are full of energy and ready to learn. It's amazing to see how something as simple as being able to print in color can inspire curiosity, creativity, and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and in our students. By integrating technology into our classroom, my students are not just learning—they're developing essential 21st-century skills like communication, creativity, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting developments is that we are now preparing to compete in the NPR Podcast Challenge! The students are thrilled to have the opportunity to create and share their work on such a big stage.
