The noise-cancelling earmuffs you helped provide have made a tremendous difference for my students. In our busy Pre-K classroom, sounds from music, chatter, and activity centers can sometimes be overwhelming—especially for children with sensory sensitivities or autism. Now, with the earmuffs available, students can choose when they need a little quiet space to refocus and feel comfortable. It's been wonderful to see how such a simple tool can create such a big change in our daily routine and learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting thing for my students has been the independence and control these earmuffs give them. Many of my students are learning how to self-regulate and express their needs, and the earmuffs have become an empowering part of that process. When a child feels overstimulated or anxious, they can reach for a pair, put them on, and immediately find calm. This has allowed them to rejoin lessons, participate in group activities, and stay engaged longer than before. Some of my students who used to cover their ears or retreat during noisy times now join circle time and music activities with confidence. It's incredible to witness the growth in their self-awareness and ability to manage emotions.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who used to struggle with transitions and loud sounds, now starts each day by calmly choosing a pair of earmuffs before joining the morning meeting. Instead of tears or frustration, we now see smiles and engagement. Another child who has difficulty focusing during group activities can now listen, participate, and even help others when wearing the earmuffs. Across the class, I've noticed more cooperation, better focus, and happier students overall. The earmuffs have helped create a space where learning feels safe and accessible to everyone—where each child has the chance to succeed in their own way.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly gone beyond providing a classroom item; you've given my students confidence and comfort in their learning environment. The difference you've made is visible every single day—in calmer transitions, more joyful participation, and the smiles of children who feel understood and supported. On behalf of my students and myself, thank you for believing in our classroom and for helping create a space where every child can thrive. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1759706575031,"projectUrl":"project/calm-focused-noise-cancelling-earmuff/9786521/","projectTitle":"Calm & Focused: Noise-Cancelling Earmuffs for Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Colbert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10298368_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759417172779","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10298368"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46564","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":873,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":52,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":86.3,"schoolId":46564,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about College Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"College Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/marion-county-public-schools/college-park-elementary-school/46564"}
