With these materials, my classroom has transformed into a true hands-on science lab where curiosity drives discovery. Students are now able to explore scientific concepts through experiments, models, and real-world applications instead of only reading about them. The excitement on their faces when using materials like lab tools, measuring instruments, and visual models shows how these resources have deepened their understanding and engagement. These tools have made abstract topics—such as energy transfer, ecosystems, and light—come alive, helping students connect what they learn in class to the world around them.\r\n\r\nWe use the resources daily to support inquiry-based investigations and collaborative learning. For example, during our energy and motion unit, students used ramps, toy cars, and thermometers to explore how energy changes form. When studying ecosystems, they created small terrarium to observe plant growth and environmental changes over time. These hands-on opportunities allow students to test hypotheses, collect data, and discuss their findings just like real scientist.","fullyFundedDate":1749650405299,"projectUrl":"project/jc-school-4th-stem-club/9200700/","projectTitle":"JC School 4th STEM club","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Odom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8701179_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742527343218","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8701179"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43209","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":578,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":88,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"20.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.4,"schoolId":43209,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Journey Coleman School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Journey Coleman School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/memphis-shelby-county-schools/coleman-elementary-school/43209"}
