The resources made it possible for every student, no matter their reading level, to engage meaningfully and contribute.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate! Many students rushed over to explore the books and digital activities. Several even asked if they could take them home to show their families, which shows just how much the materials sparked their curiosity.\r\n\r\nWe're moving into a project where students will research and write about how animals adapt to their environments. They're also giving us opportunities to practice making inferences, identifying main ideas, and connecting information across different genres—skills that are essential for lifelong reading success.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active and collaborative experience! Sometimes students read independently, curled up with a book at their desk. Other times, we work in small groups to tackle challenging texts together, pausing to ask questions and share ideas. We also use the texts as springboards for writing projects, science connections, and discussions.\r\n\r\nYes! One student who usually struggles with reading fluency has been especially excited about the illustrated nonfiction books. The visuals support her understanding, and she now volunteers to read sections aloud—a big step in confidence. Another student, who loves animals, has been eagerly checking out the habitat books and sharing \"fun facts\" with classmates, sparking curiosity in the whole group.","fullyFundedDate":1746786345474,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-in-our-reading-nook-with-a-good-boo/9286605/","projectTitle":"Cozy in Our Reading Nook With a Good Book!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Day","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9892592_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745700484535","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9892592"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61022","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":613,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":61022,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Coker Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Coker Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/murray-county-school-district/coker-elementary-school/61022"}
