Students are using the bright paper as a background for what would otherwise be very plain-looking graphs. With this, they are also adding more creative touches to their work. Our first projects of the year are typically very bland. This year, they have been quite wonderful and students are excited for me to hang their work in the hallway.\r\n\r\nThe rulers and protractors have been amazing. This is the first year I have had a matching set of protractors. This has streamlined my instruction of how to use these tools as we can move so much quicker with them all being the same. The clear plastic allows students to see more clearly what they are working on.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard markers and refills have been used to great extent in our Algebra2 classes. Students are working at vertical whiteboards, increasing discussion and building higher levels of engagement and understanding.\r\n\r\nWe thank you so much for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1752671588761,"projectUrl":"project/dynamic-math-classroom/9454498/","projectTitle":"Dynamic Math Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4885776_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1507695286641","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4885776"},{"teacherId":9587594,"projectId":9187545,"letterContent":"This project was an absolutely fantastic way for my Spanish students to wrap up our food unit and the school year! In the final days of school, when many students were watching movies in their classes, my students had the opportunity to make tortillas in groups. I collaborated with a CTE teacher who teaches in our previous Culinary room, so double the students were reached and were able to participate in this activity. Prior to the activity, students learned about different types of tortillas that are made throughout the US and Latin America, received instructions on how to make flour tortillas, and then broke up into groups to follow the recipe. 8 different class periods participated in this project, reaching about 260 students. Students who have had experience making tortillas or pupusas in their homes were the group leaders, and everyone had a blast experimenting and adding different toppings to their product! It was so fun to see.\r\n\r\nAs high schoolers, it can be a bit challenging to get students excited about different activities. However, this cooking activity resulted in TONS of laughter, collaboration, creativity and experimentation. The students were so excited (they love to eat), and most importantly, they were all able to participate due to the amount of materials that we had. If we had fewer materials, students would have been waiting around longer; however, all students were able to participate the whole time!\r\n\r\nIn the coming year, I plan to use these materials to do more cooking activities, such as making tortillas or pupusas to end our food unit and the school year. I also plan to use the materials for hands-on examples of cooking verbs, and for students to make cooking shows. My goal is always to provide contextual, hands-on learning whenever possible!","fullyFundedDate":1745247775996,"projectUrl":"project/cooking-materials-for-spanish-class-food/9187545/","projectTitle":"Cooking Materials for Spanish Class Food Unit!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bayley Gochanour","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9587594_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743994972939","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9587594"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36252","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1181,"numTeachers":67,"percentFrplEligible":88,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":36252,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clover Park Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clover Park Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/clover-park-school-district/clover-park-senior-high-school/36252"}
