Our class has grown in size this year. The carpet allows alternate seating for students and fits our whole class! When students have breaks, they use the carpet to relax. They also use it for independent reading, whole class learning, and indoor recess. \r\n\r\nBeing seated at the carpet supports kids in learning in a more focused way because we are closer together. They can better see the resources in the front of the room and avoid distractions. \r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I love opportunities to build our class community. Every morning we meet in a circle on the edges of the carpet and I sit with them! We can all see each other, listen to how we're feeling that day, connect about our lives, and play games. \r\n\r\nTwo of our students get to have class jobs that empower them to learn how to take care of our space. With over 200 students coming through my classroom each week, these new resources have made a huge difference in how we learn, move, and connect through music. The rug has become our gathering spot; a place where students sit together for stories, songs, and reflections. The cushions have given them the freedom to find comfortable spaces during creative activities, which has helped even my most energetic learners stay engaged and focused.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far was when a group of students used the adaptive instruments during a lesson on expressing emotions through sound. After reading one of the SEBH books about feelings, they took turns choosing instruments to represent different emotions, and we created a \"feelings symphony\" together. Their excitement, creativity, and empathy filled the room; it was one of those magical teaching moments that remind me why I love what I do. When the materials first arrived, the students couldn't stop smiling and exploring; now, they've truly made these tools their own.
