We have several different stations in the classroom where we utilize different parts of the order!\r\n\r\nIn our calm down corner, we have the black out sensory tent. Students love to go in first thing in the morning to acclimate themselves to the room for the day. We have a timer we use outside of the tent and they have learned when the sound goes off, it is time for someone else to have a chance at going in. They also use the tent when they are feeling overwhelmed and need a sensory break. They will zip up the tent and sit in the dark taking a break until they have calmed down enough to return to the classroom. The tent is a great addition to our room!\r\n\r\nAt our sensory station, students take turns using our light boxes with the sensory box fillers. We have totes for them to dig around in or light tables for them to look at the different colors the shapes produce. One student in particular loves to build mountains out of the start gems! The items being big enough that if they put them in their mouths, they would choke on it is a big plus. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for donating to our classroom. The cords can be overstimulating and often the discomfort of normal headphones is too much and too uncomfortable for their ears. The distraction of normal headphones made learning websites an impossibility for my students. \r\n\r\nSince getting the wireless Bluetooth headphones project funded from the generosity of you donors, my students have grown so much academically. They have a better understanding of reading and math concepts and have even started accessing music making applications where before it would have been too loud and overstimulating for them.
