They often come in carrying years of frustration and self-doubt. The iPad has allowed me to make our math meetings more interactive, visual, and engaging. I can model problem-solving in real time, annotate step-by-step solutions, highlight key strategies, and respond immediately to student thinking. They are more willing to participate, more eager to share their thinking, and more confident when they see concepts broken down clearly and visually. Field trips are a new way for us to build school culture and provide live social interaction between students. Many of our students do not know their classmates when they attend their first trip. We have observed students making their first connections with others through their snacks! \r\nThe snacks are rewards for taking the steps to come to a new place with new people. This can be very challenging for students with social anxiety. They see another student choosing the same snack and a connections is made. By the end of the trip, students have made new friends, and shared experiences with their classmates. Some have even said the best part of the trip was getting to know their teacher and making new friends. \r\nThank you to the donors who made this possible.
