I opened this school in 2019 right before Covid hit, but didn't have the funding to organize everything like I would've liked at that time. It is so important in band especially to be organized, because every rehearsal minute is valuable. The less time I spend digging around in boxes and piles is more time I can devote to teaching my students music!\r\n\r\nWith your funding, I was able to organize my paperwork, instrument repair supplies, instrument parts, and countless other small parts that I need to run a successful instrumental music program. \r\n\r\nI have many, many different opportunities happening all at the same time for my 170+ musician students. Just this week, we practiced with our pep band, marched another group in a parade, had small ensembles play at the community center for a Christmas Tree Lighting, and right now I'm at an Honor Jazz Band rehearsal. I can't tell you how helpful it is to be able to have all the music, paperwork and equipment for those events all separated and accessible instead of being in one big pile on top of my desk. I love my desk organizer so I can find different colored sharpies and binder clips easily to save time when I have students in the room.\r\n\r\nThank you so, so much for making it possible to run my program so much more efficiently and smoothly. I have several very talented students who play in the orchestra but wanted to learn more.\r\n\r\nWe started a Fiddle Club which allows students to learn old time fiddle songs and play alternative styles using folk instruments. Students wanted to learn improvisation and to compose songs of their own. \r\n\r\nThe first five meetings, we learned a few songs that use the AABB structure, and one 12-bar blues song.
