We use it to print out worksheets when the school copier is broken. We use it to make copies of letters from parents, doctors notes and other important documents. Instead of waiting for a teacher, kids can find the words they need themselves. \r\n\r\nAnother benefit to the dictionaries is that they reinforce the idea of a base word. For example, a student looking for the word \"walked\" will only find \"walk.\" Then they need to use their other spelling skills to add the suffix. \r\n\r\nThese dictionaries are an essential part of our spelling work, which also includes learning common patterns and rules. The microscopes give them a new perspective on the unseen details of ordinary things.\r\n\r\nEach Friday we have choice time in our class, and microscopes are always an option. That way, kids can explore whatever they want even if it has no connection to our other studies.\r\n\r\nWe will also be making the microscopes available to lend to other classes so that everyone in our school can benefit from your generous gift.
