The new paddles and balls have completely transformed our PE program and allowed my middle school students to learn and enjoy one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Students are now able to practice proper striking techniques, volleys, and serves with quality equipment that is safe, durable, and fun to use. The new gear has made our pickle ball unit one of the most popular activities of the semester!\r\n\r\nWhen the equipment first arrived, the students couldn't wait to start playing. Many had heard about pickle ball but had never had the chance to try it before. Their excitement and curiosity were incredible to see—students immediately began rallying and laughing together, and even those who were hesitant to play at first quickly joined in. It's been a great way to teach cooperation, communication, and perseverance in a fun and inclusive setting.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we're working on developing rally consistency and basic doubles strategy, and the next step will be hosting a mini round-robin tournament where students can apply the skills they've learned. The new paddles and balls have allowed us to play more efficiently, keep students engaged, and make the most of every class period. The new cart has made a huge difference in how efficiently we can set up and clean up during class. My middle school students are now able to quickly grab rackets and birdies and get right into their games and skill stations. This has allowed us to spend more time actually playing and developing skills like serving, volleying, and teamwork—rather than wasting precious class time sorting through tangled equipment.\r\n\r\nWhen the cart first arrived, my students were so excited to see all the badminton gear neatly organized and easily accessible. Several students even commented that it felt like we had a \"real PE department setup\" and that it made the class feel more professional. It's amazing how a simple piece of equipment can make such a big impact on student enthusiasm and pride in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nRight now, my classes are working on improving their serving consistency and learning basic doubles strategy. Having the equipment organized means we can quickly transition between skill drills and game play rotations. The next step is to hold a friendly tournament where students can apply everything they've learned. Thanks to your support, we're able to keep our lessons active, engaging, and focused on skill growth.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude,\r\nMr. Snitily\r\nMiddle School Health and Fitness Teacher","fullyFundedDate":1723654507782,"projectUrl":"project/badminton-organization/8385698/","projectTitle":"Badminton Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Snitily","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9340538_orig.jpg?crop=896,896,x0,y50&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698123666039","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9340538"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35509","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":529,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.3,"schoolId":35509,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chief Umtuch Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chief Umtuch Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/battle-ground-school-district-119/chief-umtuch-middle-school/35509"}
