We are using engaging board games like The Game of Life and Pay Day, along with budgeting kits and interactive card games, to help students practice budgeting, saving, and making smart financial choices. One powerful moment was watching students pause mid‑game to debate whether a purchase was a \"want or a need,\" using vocabulary and strategies they had just learned. These hands‑on activities have turned abstract money concepts into meaningful, memorable experiences.\r\nWhen the students first saw the games and materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to play, collaborate, and learn—many saying it felt like \"real life practice\" instead of a regular lesson. For students who don't often have conversations about finances at home, these materials made learning about money feel accessible and non‑intimidating. I saw confidence grow as students realized they could understand budgeting, saving, and planning for the future, even if those topics once felt overwhelming.\r\nNext, students will continue rotating through financial literacy stations, tracking their choices, reflecting on outcomes, and connecting game scenarios to real‑world decisions they'll soon face. We are extending these lessons into discussions about careers, income, and long‑term financial goals. Many of my students come from historically underfunded communities, yet they are eager and resilient learners who want to be prepared for adulthood. Because of you, they are gaining the knowledge, confidence, and financial awareness they need to make informed choices and build a stronger future. Thank you for investing in their success and believing in what they can achieve.","fullyFundedDate":1772116102185,"projectUrl":"project/adulting-101-financial-literacy-game-zo/9973848/","projectTitle":"Adulting 101: Financial Literacy Game Zone","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Etienne","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10252758_orig.jpg?crop=1179,1179,x0,y369&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757521881765","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10252758"},{"teacherId":10252758,"projectId":9749872,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support my students are already benefiting from these powerful learning tools. In our classroom, students are using wireless keyboards and reusable write‑and‑wipe pockets to design digital games, explore technology careers, practice real‑world budgeting, and develop essential writing skills—including confidently signing their names. These resources allow students to engage in hands‑on projects where they don't just learn about careers and money—they actively apply those concepts in meaningful ways that mirror real life.\r\nWhen the materials arrived, students were beyond excited. Many immediately asked when we could begin building games or testing our budgeting simulations. For some students, this was their first time using professional‑style tools that made them feel like real designers, developers, and planners. Watching their confidence grow—especially among students who may not always see themselves represented in tech—has been incredibly rewarding. They were proud, motivated, and eager to show what they could create.\r\nThe next steps include expanding our TechQuest levels, peer‑testing games, connecting career research to resume building, and continuing financial literacy lessons that show how education impacts earnings and opportunity. Many of my students will be the first in their families to attend college, and they carry that goal with determination and heart. Because of you, they now have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to imagine new possibilities for their futures. Because of you, we now have a reliable printer and the ink needed to bring our students' learning to life. This gift has made an immediate and meaningful impact on both teaching and learning.\r\nIn a technology- and career-focused classroom like ours, students are constantly creating—resumes, project drafts, career research, graphics, coding reflections, and more. Having a printer allows them to see their work in a tangible form, make revisions with confidence, and proudly display their accomplishments. It also helps students who may not have access to printing at home, ensuring they can fully participate and meet expectations.\r\nYour donation has also helped streamline our classroom routines. From printing worksheets and checklists to producing certificates that celebrate student progress, the printer has become an everyday tool that strengthens organization, creativity, and student ownership.\r\nMost importantly, your generosity shows my students that their work matters. When they can hold their creations in their hands, they feel valued—and that feeling carries into their motivation, their effort, and their belief in themselves.\r\nOn behalf of every student who now has the opportunity to print, revise, display, and celebrate their learning—thank you. Your donation made it possible for them to focus on learning instead of their empty stomachs. Something as simple as a healthy snack has transformed the energy in our classroom—students are more attentive, more engaged, and better able to participate in the hands-on, career-focused work we do each day.\r\nYour kindness didn't just provide snacks; it provided confidence, comfort, and a sense of care. When we received the drum pads it was better for the students to practicing balancing their wrist and learning how to play with more control. \r\n\r\n In these photos students are enjoying using the drum pads to while playing to a funky beat.
