In addition to learning the basics of the instrument, the 5th graders learned to play chords for our school song \"Panther Pride,\" part of the melody of our other school song \"Cherry Creek Song,\" part of the melody of \"I'm Still Standing\" by Elton John, and chords for the song \"Best Day of My Life.\" Their pride was palpable. Having these instruments to learn, play, and perform for an audience was a wonderful send-off from our school to the middle school where they have the opportunity to sing in the choir or learn to play another instrument. This year's 5th grade students came in to their first day of music class asking when they will get to start learning to play the ukuleles.
