I am a new teacher who started mid-year fresh out of undergrad and ready to conquer elementary ed! I was totally unprepared to teach at the secondary level, so some of these additions to the classroom (alternative, flexible seating and calm strips) were of great benefit! The remaining items on my project list were hugely helpful as well as I did not have the funds to purchase them on my own. As a newly graduated teacher who jumped straight into her Masters degree, I was pinching pennies and your generosity made my students so happy and excited to learn! \r\n\r\nI teach a class called Seminar, which I have piloted and helped develop, to establish and practice academic habits, executive functioning skills, and career readiness upon students' arrival to high school. I teach primarily 9th and 10th graders, and I love it! We use the pencils to complete grade and planner checks, quick writes, take notes about powerful study skills, and complete executive functioning lessons. We use the highlighters for missing assignment reports and annotations of important readings or poems. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and my students' hearts!! :)","fullyFundedDate":1727462904972,"projectUrl":"project/freshmen-sophomore-support/8577415/","projectTitle":"Freshmen & Sophomore Support!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. O'Dougherty","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9633100_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y372&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723073537940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9633100"},{"teacherId":9236162,"projectId":8895219,"letterContent":"I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support in providing my high school social studies classroom with materials and resources focused on improving students' mental health. These tools have not only enriched our learning environment but have also created a space where students feel more comfortable discussing their emotions, understanding the importance of mental well-being, and accessing the support they need. Your contributions are helping to foster resilience and emotional awareness, skills that will serve them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nBy incorporating mental health resources into our curriculum, you have made a profound difference in the lives of my students. Many of them face challenges both in and out of school, and having access to these materials has opened up critical conversations and support pathways. This initiative has also helped break down the stigma around mental health, encouraging students to seek help when needed and to show empathy for others.\r\n\r\nThank you for being such an integral part of this positive change. Your generosity and commitment to supporting young people's well-being will have a lasting impact, empowering students to thrive academically and personally.","fullyFundedDate":1729814338983,"projectUrl":"project/mindful-moments-creating-calm-for-stude/8895219/","projectTitle":"Mindful Moments: Creating Calm for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Douglass","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9236162_orig.jpg?crop=1342,1342,x290,y491&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695692682485","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9236162"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52875","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1808,"numTeachers":87,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":78,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.7,"schoolId":52875,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chatfield Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chatfield Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/jefferson-county-school-district-r-1/chatfield-senior-high-school/52875"}
