We've been using the number and sentence-building materials every day, and they are already making a huge difference.\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during a literacy center activity. Students worked together to build sentences using the new word tiles, and several emerging readers created complete sentences on their own for the very first time. They were so proud of their work that they asked to share their sentences with the whole class. In math, students have been using the number manipulatives to build and compare numbers, helping them understand concepts that were previously difficult to visualize.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' reaction was pure joy. They crowded around the boxes with wide eyes, pointing out everything they recognized. Many asked, \"Can we start right now?\" Their excitement made it clear how much these new tools mean to them.\r\nOur next steps include expanding both our reading and math centers. Students will begin building longer sentences and short stories, and in math we'll use the manipulatives to model addition, subtraction, and number decomposition. These resources will continue to support hands-on learning every single day.\r\nThank you for giving my students the tools they need to grow, explore, and shine. Your support truly matters.","fullyFundedDate":1746698787451,"projectUrl":"project/learning-through-numbers-and-words/9148827/","projectTitle":"Learning Through Numbers and Words","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wheaton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9916918_orig.jpg?crop=1290,1290,x0,y348&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739376110625","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9916918"},{"teacherId":10181172,"projectId":9607409,"letterContent":"I was so excited to use these books during story time to help the children learn about kindness. \r\nThe children were so excited to open the books. They loved looking at the variety of books. They especially loved the illustrations. They enjoyed that the books looked like them.\r\n\r\nWhen we first read the books, the children were learning how to be nice by not hitting their friends. The students didn't understand that they were hurting their friends until, we read the books and looked at the illustrations. \r\nIt took a couple of weeks to learn this skill but soon they learned not to hit. Now they are not using their hands to hurt but using them to help one another. The children now are compassionate and when they see their friends upset or crying they are the first ones to console the students. One student comes and sits in the other student's lap. As she/he sits in the student's lap she/he will rub the students back. The students will also immediately come to get an adult. Since some of my students are non verbal when they come get an adult, they will grab the adult and pull them toward the upset child. \r\nThe children have learned that sometimes we get frustrated and have used the books to calm down. They will grab one of the books to read. \r\nThe students have learned so much from these books. They have learned how to be kind, compassionate and include others.The students have learned that everyone matters, eventhough they may be different. There is an abundance of love in the classroom. Thank you for helping us become compassionate individuals.","fullyFundedDate":1758222584688,"projectUrl":"project/an-ounce-of-compassion-keeps-the-tears-a/9607409/","projectTitle":"An Ounce of Compassion Keeps the Tears Away!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jamison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10181172"},{"teacherId":9887242,"projectId":9063224,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our essential supplies. These supplies have been a life saver mid year when so many supplies run short.\r\n\r\nAs I mentioned my preschool classroom is for students with disabilities. My para professional and I spend a great deal of the day wiping noses and washing hands. The Puffs with lotion are a game changer. They allow us to be gentler with wiping noses and faces. \r\nWe also received a box of fruit snacks that are the perfect size for my students. I spend a lot of my own money providing snacks and prizes to reward my students. They absolutely love the fruit and veggie fruit snacks. They were so excited when I opened the box and they saw what was inside. They work really hard when they know they will earn a small treat so thank you so much. \r\nFinally we received the much needed dry erase markers. We can never get enough of these as I use them and also put them in my writing center. Kudos to all that donated.","fullyFundedDate":1736961100121,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-essentials-shipment-2025-01-1/9063224/","projectTitle":"Classroom Essentials Shipment: 2025-01-15","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9887242_orig.jpg?crop=1932,1932,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736874791524","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9887242"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84282","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":267,"numTeachers":8,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":78,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"33.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":84282,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chase School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chase School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/cincinnati-public-schools/chase-elementary-school/84282"}
