Many of my students had never played a real drum set before or even seen/heard one in person, and the look on their faces when they sat down for the first time was unforgettable. They are developing coordination, confidence, teamwork, and musical expression every time they use it.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this instrument goes far beyond learning to keep a beat. Students who are typically shy or hesitant have found a new way to participate and shine. Small groups are using the drums to create patterns together, classes are practicing steady beat and ensemble playing, and students with sensory needs especially benefit from the structured, physical outlet the drum set provides. The animal shelter even put up pictures of our project on their website and the students said it made them feel amazing to be kind and help the community. \r\n\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just help support these current students or the community it also will help students every year create a kindness project in my class.
