My students now have easy access to cold drinks when they are thirsty or need a quick break to reset and refocus. Having these resources available helps the students feel comfortable, cared for, and ready to learn without having to leave the classroom. When the mini fridge first arrived, my students were excited to see it become part of our classroom. They immediately understood that it was provided especially to help them, creating a wonderful sense of excitement and appreciation.\r\n\r\nWe are using the mini fridge to store food for cooking activities and as part of our daily classroom routine. Students are encouraged to make healthy choices, take care of their bodies, and recognize when they need a drink or a short break so they can return to learning. Our next steps are to continue building these healthy habits and encouraging students to become more independent in recognizing and communicating their needs.\r\n\r\nYour donation is helping remove barriers that can make learning more difficult. Your generosity provides more than storage for drinks and food; it helps create a classroom where students feel supported, respected, and valued. The students were so anxiously waiting to receive it.\r\nThey got extremely surprised and very excited when we received the call from the front office informing us that we had a package. When they saw it was the water dispenser, they could not wait to have it open and set up. Using our new sublimation materials and equipment, students are learning how to design, press, and create personalized items such as keychains, tote bags, and T shirts.\r\n\r\nOne special classroom moment happened when students saw their very first designs successfully transfer onto a tote bag. The excitement in the room was incredible. There were cheers, huge smiles, and a lot of \"I made this\" pride. For many of our students, seeing a digital design turn into a professional looking product was empowering. It made the learning feel real and meaningful.\r\n\r\nBecause we use sublimation, students are able to personalize and customize each item. That creative control keeps them engaged. It feels new and exciting, but also familiar because they get to incorporate their own interests and styles. This sense of ownership has been especially powerful.\r\n\r\nBeyond creativity, this project provides authentic work experience. Students are building vocational skills such as following multi step directions, managing materials, working as a team, and practicing quality control. We have already seen growth in work stamina, attention to detail, and perseverance. Students are staying focused longer and taking pride in completing tasks from start to finish.\r\n\r\nNext steps for our class include developing a small product line, practicing pricing and budgeting skills, and preparing to fulfill real orders within our school community. Students will continue refining their design skills and exploring how to market their products.\r\n\r\nYour support is creating hands on career experiences that build confidence, independence, and real world skills. While many of our donors use technology at home, the way it's used in schools goes far beyond convenience—it creates access and opportunity. Many of our students do not have access to high-quality color printers at home, and for some, printing even a simple assignment can be stressful or costly. Having this technology available at school removes that barrier and allows students to focus on learning rather than worrying about how they will complete an assignment.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects for students has been the ability to use the printers for real-world and school-wide projects. Students have created senior night posters for athletes and club members, designing full-color posters with photos, graphics, and personal touches. For many students, this is their first experience producing something that looks truly professional. Seeing their work displayed publicly builds pride, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging within the school community.\r\n\r\nThe printers have also transformed everyday classroom assignments. Students can now include color photos, diagrams, and images that make their work more engaging and meaningful. Assignments truly \"pop,\" and students are better able to communicate their understanding through visuals. This has been especially impactful for visual learners and students who benefit from creative expression alongside written work.\r\n\r\nAccess to these printers has been especially meaningful for students who lack resources at home. Instead of scrambling to find a place to print, missing out on opportunities, or settling for lower-quality work, students now have reliable access during the school day. This reduces stress, promotes equity, and ensures that all students—regardless of their circumstances—have the chance to produce their best work.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, this project has helped create a more inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Your generosity has removed a simple but significant obstacle for many students, strengthened school culture, and empowered students to take pride in their learning. Most importantly, it shows students that their community believes in them and is invested in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1762568453224,"projectUrl":"project/school-is-better-in-color/9567527/","projectTitle":"School Is Better in Color!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tsuda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9825872"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54692","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1356,"numTeachers":78,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.9,"schoolId":54692,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Century High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Century High School ","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santa-ana-unified-school-district/century-high-school/54692"}
