The kids perused the books (and wanted to take all of them home with them immediately!) and we voted on the first book to read. To my surprise they voted almost unanimously for Superpowered - Transform Anxiety into Courage, Confidence, and Resilience. We have had many wonderful discussions and the kids have really taken the lead on asking thoughtful questions and they have gotten adept at policing each other if they talk without the talking piece (a Harry potter quaffle ball...it felt appropriate for a book club :-). They enjoy talking about their books so much that they put together a group chat so they could continue discussing over Spring Break (and made rules for said group chat that included what could or could not be in the group chat and how late they could send messages to the chat. The bonding that has taken place amongst this like-minded group of kiddos alone has been such an amazing thing to watch, but specifically, the books themselves have inspired conversations that are relevant to their age and development of social skills and coping strategies. I simply cannot thank you enough for providing the tools to keep this program going strong!","fullyFundedDate":1741731887788,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-book-club/9112276/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Learning Book Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Webster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5247844_orig.png?crop=1200,1200,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753278061785","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5247844"},{"teacherId":9865462,"projectId":9069179,"letterContent":"On behalf of Central Middle School and my STEM Social Studies classroom, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of supplies for our STEAM Art cart. Your contribution will continue to play a pivotal role in enriching the educational experiences of our students by providing them with the necessary tools to explore their creativity and engage in hands-on learning activities.\r\n\r\nThe STEAM Art cart is designed to foster innovation and creativity, allowing students to experiment with various artistic materials while integrating concepts from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The supplies donated have been used in a variety of projects that encourage students to think critically, collaborate with peers, and problem-solve. These activities continue to help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application, allowing our students to better understand the relevance of STEAM subjects in everyday life. Recently, students used the art cart materials to design blueprints for a Roman aqueduct design/build project. The supplies helped them engage in the design process. They had so much fun! \r\n\r\nYour support makes a meaningful impact on our students' education, and we are excited to see how they will utilize these supplies to explore new ideas and develop skills that will serve them well in the future. Thank you again for your generosity, and please know that your donation is making a lasting difference in our community.","fullyFundedDate":1738805611477,"projectUrl":"project/steam-art-cart-creation/9069179/","projectTitle":"STEAM Art Cart Creation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kramer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9865462_orig.jpg?crop=487,487,x0,y60&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737132699723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9865462"},{"teacherId":5247844,"projectId":8772449,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing books for my Book Club! We had our first meeting yesterday. The kids had a great time and our first meeting was a success. After we established our group rules and distributed the books, the kids immediately started bonding on favorite books/authors. It was exactly what I had hoped for!\r\nI got the idea for Book Club, because I have always enjoyed reading and anytime my daughter had a book to read for summer reading, I always read it so we could discuss. So, when some of my 7th grade teachers reached out because they were concerned about one of my students who said she was having trouble finding a peer group/friends, I met with her and she was holding a book and inspiration struck. She is a very quiet young lady, but when I mentioned the idea of starting a Book Club, her eyes lit up and she smiled so big I almost cried. \r\nWhen the project got funded, I advertised the club and we are presently at 9 members. After we met yesterday, I went to lunch duty and one of my club members waved me over. One of her friends was reading our first book and wanted to join! And everytwhere I looked, the club members were reading their new books while eating their lunch! It absolutely made my day...and theirs! I cannot thank you for providing this opportunity!!
