Because of your support, students were able to share their artwork with the entire school in a meaningful and professional way.\r\n\r\nFor this cross-curricular project, students created artwork focused on important social issues and how to inspire compassion and empathy in the viewers. The display board allowed us to transform our media center into a gallery where students and staff could stop, reflect, and engage with the artwork. Alongside the displayed pieces, viewers wrote thoughtful responses about how the artwork made them feel compassion, what emotions the pieces evoked, and how the social issues impacted them personally.\r\n\r\nMany students commented that they liked the opportunity for their peers and other teachers to see their artwork and they were eager to read the responses left by their peers and teachers. Seeing others connect emotionally to their artwork helped students recognize the power of art as a form of communication and advocacy. Multiple teachers across other subjects commented that they loved the opportunity for their students to see original student artwork and for their students to be able to engage in writing about the art show.\r\n\r\nThe art display board will continue to support future projects that connect art with writing, history, social studies, and community engagement. Our next steps include expanding opportunities for students to create artwork that sparks discussion, reflection, and empathy across our school community. Next year's theme will be \"What Change Do You Want to See in the World?\"\r\n\r\nThank you for helping our students feel seen, heard, and empowered through art.
