Having tools is essential to learn and practice the measurement skills in math.\r\n\r\nThe rulers provided to my classroom had overwhelmed my students with so many tick marks. These rulers are wonderful. No metal sides sticking out as a safety hazard. Only 1/4 inches as markings to clearly indicate to students what we are looking for.\r\n\r\nThe measurement for capacity and weight allow more students hands on experiences at the same time. My students from the local tribe were excited to hear a book about powwow - an experience they just participated in over the summer. Wobble stools give them the movement they need with the safety of the stool over the precious nature of sitting on two chair legs. \r\n\r\nThese stools are popular with the students who do not struggle with keeping the legs down as well. If a wobble stool is available they will ask if they can use it. One student in particular has been much more motivated to complete each of his work requirements in order to get a \"squishy\" to keep his hands and mind focused.\r\n\r\nOthers have loved the putty, the fidget rings, and the bracelets. They hold me to it if I don't get the box out when they have met the prize box requirements. And they are taking care of their prizes and encouraging others to work towards their own prizes. The additions of nonfiction books has opened their reading world and their curiosity. I have seen more reluctant students more willing to jump in to a more difficult or unfamiliar topic.\r\n\r\nThank you for spreading the joy of reading and curiosity to my third graders.
