When they come in for flex time, they know that once they're settled with their reflection and a plan for focused work time there is a snack waiting for them. I firmly believe that access to resources like snacks, calming beverages, and tools for mental health should be among their top concerns when they're trying to learn. \r\n\r\nStudents also benefit from being able to quickly locate supplies. When my students need a highlighter to highlight something, a spot to charge their phone so they can contact family after school, or they forgot their pencil, they don't have to waste time looking for those resources. My district provides so many of the basics, but your generous donations wrapped your arms around me and my students by providing an organizing corner bookshelf, comfortable sized desks, and soothing lamps to help me create a comfortable and calming classroom environment.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity! With your support I was able to spend more time planning root word practice exercises, plan and provide interventions to target specific reading challenges, and build community by listening to each student's story.","fullyFundedDate":1756402966170,"projectUrl":"project/small-space-big-chill/9593778/","projectTitle":"Small space, big chill.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Malone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1581231_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726866191867","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1581231"},{"teacherId":1581231,"projectId":8808962,"letterContent":"Imagine feeling stressed about your classes in a language different from the one you speak at home. You've taken a tough reading assessment, you're not sure if you're growing, and you feel overwhelmed. You need to come to flex time for extra help, but you're not sure if this is a good thing or not because you are still learning the ropes at your new school.\r\nHealthy snacks, candy, fidgets, and play dough bring a little joy and light to the work I do with my students in and outside of class. The organizational tools you provided enable me to get my work done more quickly without scrambling to find items I might need.\r\nI limit phone and computer use in my classes because although translation and other tech tools are super helpful, there are a number of other tools on the computer that become more of a distraction than anything else. The first day I brought out our brand new word-to-word dictionaries, one student gasped and said \"thank you so much!\" These tools allowed students to deepen their understanding of Shakespeare's prologue to Romeo and Juliet by providing a tool to translate the language word by word. Students have also been able to grow in their confidence in vocabulary knowledge by creating tactile models of words with the playdough, guessing each other's words, and having fun with complex words. Tapping into kinesthetic and social elements of learning is a culturally responsive teaching tool. It not only enhances their learning experience, but builds a collective learning experience, enhancing students' sense of self value.\r\nThank you for your support of my classroom. Especially now, I am grateful for the collaboration and community.","fullyFundedDate":1729093954051,"projectUrl":"project/building-literacy-and-hearts/8808962/","projectTitle":"Building Literacy and Hearts!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Malone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1581231_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726866191867","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1581231"},{"teacherId":9740825,"projectId":8756350,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your generous donations to fund our project.
