The floor cushions have made reading time enjoyable and inviting, while the speakers ensure that all students can fully participate in lessons with music or videos. The organizational items have helped me teach more effectively and keep our classroom running smoothly. Overall, these additions have helped students feel safe, valued, and excited to learn each day.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful to all the donors who made this project possible. Your generosity has brought so much joy and excitement to our classroom. The students love the new learning space, and it has truly made a difference in their daily experience. My students and I are already making the most of the new games, toys, and materials during speech therapy sessions. The younger children especially love the Legos, Magna-Tiles, and pretend play toys, which spark their imagination and help elicit new and meaningful language. Many students also use the new games as a reward at the end of their sessions after working hard. These materials have boosted engagement across the board—making students excited to come to speech, work on their skills, and learn through play.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new resources, their faces lit up with joy. They hadn't had new games or toys in over three years, and many were growing tired of the old ones. Their excitement was contagious—they immediately began talking more, commenting on the games, and sharing their enjoyment with peers. It was so rewarding to see communication skills blossom in such a natural and fun way.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are now practicing their communication in a more engaging, motivating, and inclusive environment. You've given them tools that not only build speech and language skills, but also bring happiness and confidence into their learning.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of all of my students, thank you for making such a lasting impact!","fullyFundedDate":1748815486116,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-bring-play-and-communication-to/9221649/","projectTitle":"Help Me Bring Play and Communication to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Piano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9545275_orig.jpg?crop=898,899,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754101520419","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9545275"},{"teacherId":9672276,"projectId":9078100,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to this project! Our previous module focused on immigration, which is personal to many students in my class. Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to have an authentic text about immigration from the perspective of young students. I began searching for books that would make a great impact, connect with students personally, and help students develop empathy and compassion for this population. That is when I found the book, The Boy at the Back of the Class. This book is about a refugee kid from Syria. \r\n\r\nTo say that my students love this book would be an understatement! It is their favorite book out of all the books we've read all year long. Since the book is rather long, we are still reading it, but they were able to complete some novel studies I found on Teachers Pay Teachers. They were also able to complete a culture project that focused on immigrants from Nigeria, Russia, Mexico, Ukraine, and India. This experience gave them the cross-cultural experience I hoped for. Thank you so much for helping me bring this experience to life for my students. I know they will remember this for years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1739888132720,"projectUrl":"project/3rd-graders-seeking-cross-cultural-exper/9078100/","projectTitle":"3rd Graders Seeking Cross-cultural Experiences Through Authentic Texts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9672276_orig.jpg?crop=896,896,x0,y5&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756656813190","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9672276"},{"teacherId":9672276,"projectId":8659053,"letterContent":"Thank you for making our classroom library a LIBRARY! We now have dozens of books that reflect our diverse student population. Students get to choose one book per week. Since these are chapter books and I am trying to build up their reading stamina, students read for 10-15 minutes each morning upon arrival. Students are also instructed to read when they finish assignments early. Students are also expected to read for 20 minutes each day during their WIN (what I need block). This process allows them to view reading as a crucial part of academic success and it helps them get used to reading academically rigorous and engaging content consistently. \r\n\r\nWhen students received their books, they were excited and ready to read. One student said it felt like Christmas, while others gravitated towards books with main characters that shared their racial identity. Some students were ready to set up the library and even assigned library assistants for each week. Some students are so into their books that they choose to read in the library during free time. \r\n\r\nThank you for providing irreplaceable and invaluable resources and experiences for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1731277122043,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library-culturally-responsive/8659053/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library: Culturally Responsive Books That Reflect Diverse Student Population","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9672276_orig.jpg?crop=896,896,x0,y5&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756656813190","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9672276"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103927","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":449,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.4,"schoolId":103927,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Capitol Collegiate Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Capitol Collegiate Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sacramento-city-unified-school-district/capitol-collegiate-academy/103927"}
