We've been using the dramatic play costumes during our Creative Curriculum clothing study, and watching my students practice buttoning the chef coat or zipping up the construction vest has been incredible. These aren't just dress-up clothes to them—they're opportunities to master the same fine motor skills we target in their IEPs, but in a way that feels like play.\r\nThe laundry sets have become a favorite center rotation. My students sort clothes by color and type, follow multi-step directions to \"wash, dry, and fold,\" and take turns being the helper—all critical skills for children with language delays and autism. Because I embed specialized instruction directly into classroom activities rather than pulling students out, every child benefits from these materials while my students with IEPs get the targeted practice they need. The Knuffle Bunny has already become a go-to comfort item during transitions for several students who need sensory support.\r\nNext, we're expanding into community helper exploration. Students will rotate through stations dressed as chefs, doctors, and construction workers, practicing the language and social skills that go with each role. Thank you for giving my students these hands-on tools to build independence and confidence—they're already showing me what capable learners they are.","fullyFundedDate":1763584337832,"projectUrl":"project/exploring-clothes-and-careers-through-pl/9823803/","projectTitle":"Exploring Clothes and Careers Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rosenblatt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2427914_orig.jpg?crop=796,796,x887,y645&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706718254184","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrosenblatt"},{"teacherId":2427914,"projectId":9593788,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making this calming space possible! My students were so excited when they first saw the flowers on the wall - lots of pointing and big smiles. It's become their safe spot when they need a break from the busy classroom.\r\n\r\nThe hexagon mirrors have been a game-changer. Most of my preschoolers are still developing language, so having them look at their own faces while they're upset or happy helps them start to connect what they're feeling inside with what they see outside. These are small moments, but for kids with IEPs who are working so hard on self-regulation, they're huge wins.\r\n\r\nWhen a child needs some space, they now have a calm, welcoming place to share. I'm seeing them start to ask for breaks from time to time, which is exactly what we've been working toward. We practice simple calming strategies here - breathing, counting, or just sitting quietly for a minute. Your support has given my students something they really needed, and I'm so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1756735478084,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calming-office-space-for-stud/9593788/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calming Office Space for Student Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rosenblatt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2427914_orig.jpg?crop=796,796,x887,y645&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706718254184","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrosenblatt"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25483","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":492,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":87,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"22.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.2,"schoolId":25483,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Canyon Springs Community Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Canyon Springs Community Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sulphur-springs-union-school-district/canyon-springs-community-elementary-school/25483"}
