By taking the lead in spreading kindness and reinforcing positive behaviors, my students were able to actively contribute to our school's Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program. This initiative allowed them to take ownership of their school culture, especially in Whiteriver, Arizona, where many of them face social-emotional challenges. I saw firsthand how the project helped my students feel more valued and supported, as they recognized the importance of kindness, responsibility, respect, and safety in their everyday interactions. The overall emotional climate of the school improved, as students were encouraged to promote positivity not just within the school but beyond it as well.\r\n\r\nThrough the creation of personalized thank-you cards, handmade gifts, and awards, my students had the opportunity to celebrate and appreciate their peers for their positive behaviors. These small acts of kindness helped reinforce a culture of gratitude throughout the school. The project allowed my students to take pride in acknowledging their peers' good deeds, which in turn encouraged others to model similar behavior. I was proud to see how this project helped students develop essential social-emotional skills, such as empathy and gratitude, while fostering a positive, inclusive school community. It was clear that the project made a lasting impact on the overall atmosphere of the school, creating a space where every student felt appreciated and motivated to continue spreading kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1732291230587,"projectUrl":"project/kindness-counts-promoting-positivity-at/8854485/","projectTitle":"Kindness Counts: Promoting Positivity at School","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. PINEDA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/539163"},{"teacherId":539163,"projectId":8777510,"letterContent":"This project had a profound impact on my Native American middle school students, as it offered them a dynamic learning experience that integrated robotics, math, reading, and financial literacy. By using VEX V5 Robotics Kits, students not only engaged in the technical aspects of building and programming robots, but also applied essential math concepts, read and analyzed technical manuals, and participated in financial literacy activities such as budgeting, cost analysis, and understanding the economics behind robotics projects. This integration of multiple subjects helped students see the practical relevance of STEM education and how it connects to real-world financial decision-making. It enabled them to develop critical life skills, such as managing resources and balancing budgets, which are essential for their futures.\r\n\r\nWhat made this project particularly impactful was its ability to connect academic knowledge with real-world applications. The hands-on nature of working with the robotics kits allowed students to apply their learning in meaningful ways, while the financial literacy component added an important layer to the experience. Students learned how to make informed financial decisions, allocate resources effectively, and prioritize costs—skills that will serve them well in future careers in engineering, technology, and business. By working on a technical project with financial constraints, students gained insight into the challenges that engineers and project managers face every day. This not only boosted their technical knowledge but also helped them develop essential skills for their future careers, preparing them for a world where technology and financial acumen go hand-in-hand.","fullyFundedDate":1733265145338,"projectUrl":"project/robo-finance-building-robots-solving-m/8777510/","projectTitle":"Robo-Finance: Building Robots, Solving Math, and Learning Financial Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. PINEDA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/539163"},{"teacherId":539163,"projectId":8885234,"letterContent":"The solar-powered hydroponics project had a significant impact on my students at Canyon Day Junior High School, many of whom come from under-resourced communities with limited access to advanced technology and STEM opportunities. Despite these challenges, they demonstrated resilience, curiosity, and a strong eagerness to learn. The project provided them with a hands-on opportunity to engage with real-world science and technology, allowing them to explore the applications of renewable energy and sustainable farming. Through building hydroponic systems powered by solar panels, students learned valuable concepts in plant biology, renewable energy, and problem-solving, while developing critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity as they worked together to optimize their systems.\r\n\r\nBeyond developing technical skills, the project inspired my students to think about global challenges like food security and environmental sustainability. It helped them understand how science and technology could be leveraged to address these issues, fostering a sense of responsibility and agency in their ability to contribute to a more sustainable future. By working with solar panels and hydroponic kits, students gained confidence in their abilities, saw the real-world relevance of STEM, and were motivated to consider careers in STEM fields, particularly in renewable energy, environmental science, and agriculture. Ultimately, this project not only deepened their STEM knowledge but also empowered them to envision themselves as future leaders capable of tackling some of the world's most pressing challenges.","fullyFundedDate":1731375854551,"projectUrl":"project/powering-hydroponics-with-solar-energy/8885234/","projectTitle":"Powering Hydroponics with Solar Energy: A Green STEM Initiative","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. PINEDA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/539163"},{"teacherId":9747989,"projectId":8778350,"letterContent":"I am writing to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous donation to my classroom project on DonorsChoose.
