I've already seen a shift in how my sixth graders manage their work and take ownership of their writing.\r\n\r\nEvery day, students reach for their highlighters to mark key ideas and annotate texts before we begin drafting essays or informational pieces. They've learned to look for supporting details in articles, circle strong vocabulary in their readings, and use different color pens to organize thoughts on the page. This simple practice has made our lesson discussions more focused and has given them clear visual roadmaps when they sit down to write.\r\n\r\nThe self-inking stamps have become our mini editors. After revising a paragraph, each student stamps \"Check Again\" on sections they want to revisit or they use one of the fancy stickers to celebrate parts they feel confident about. This quick feedback loop—applied by their own hands—has boosted both their editing skills and their confidence in polishing their work.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the undated planners are teaching executive functioning in real time. Students block out writing time, set goals for drafting and revising, and track deadlines for essays and research projects. I've noticed fewer last-minute panics and more thoughtful planning. They're learning to break big assignments into manageable steps, which is a skill I hope they'll carry well beyond my classroom.\r\n\r\nYour support has given us the tools to make writing feel hands-on, organized, and student-driven. Thank you for helping my writers develop new habits that will serve them for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1734969902073,"projectUrl":"project/improve-organization-executive-function/8976228/","projectTitle":"Improve Organization/ Executive Functioning of Sixth Graders in Writing Class!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Papp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1782783"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43636","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":333,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":20,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":43636,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Canton Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Canton Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/canton-public-schools/canton-intermediate-school/43636"}
