I watched students practice patience as they saved up for larger purchases, pride as they met their goals, and responsibility as they budgeted wisely. For many, this was the first time they truly understood how money management works.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project helped students build confidence in their decision-making and understand the long-term value of financial planning. We use these items to stock our classroom student store, which plays a big role in our behavior management system. When they first saw the snacks, candy, scented pencils, fidget toys, Play-Doh, slime, and finger puppets, their faces completely lit up—they couldn't believe how many fun options they would get to choose from. Their enthusiasm has made the store even more motivating, and it's clear that having these exciting rewards helps them stay engaged and proud of their progress.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue earning and saving their class money as part of our ongoing lessons around responsibility, decision-making, and positive behavior. The student store gives them real opportunities to practice budgeting and self-management while reinforcing the choices we want to see in the classroom. They will act as engineers during a rollercoaster creation and discover science truths versus myths.
