They are engaged eager and they want to learn how to read and write all the things (Mrs. Taylor what does this say? Let's say it sound by sound). It feels magical to them when I point out and celebrate their reading. But we know that their learning is a result of many consistent contributions day after day. Work that includes their good, hard work, their families and your investment in my teaching and our learning that is bringing about such monumental growth.\r\n\r\nA few more celebrations to share with you:\r\n\r\nMany students can now read the lunch menu (chicken sandwich, cheese nachos). \r\n\r\nWe are writing thankful notes \r\n(Whiskers the dog ... They have stories to share and words to write. For Mother's Day each child wrote a personal book with 10 things that they love about their mom. It was absolutely heartwarming to hear their stories and learn of the favorite food that their mom cooks, the way their mom cheers them up, how their mom shows them love. They had such motivation and confidence to communicate long, thoughtful messages. \r\n\r\nThis past week we collected phrases to say to ourselves when we need to stick with a task. The kindergartners came up with great phrases to 'say to their heart and their brain' (their phrase) when they might be feeling discouraged or frustrated or when things get hard ... taking their idea and putting onto paper or doing the monkey bars or learning some other new thing. I wish you could have heard them cheer each other on the next recess. It was remarkable.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in their hearts, their minds, their stories. It is creative, calming, exploring, and life giving. Using their art materials allows them the space to respond to their learning but also to express their ideas and their own selves.\r\n\r\nThe accessibility of materials with the spinning tray makes collaboration and sharing that much easier! The washi tape with its brilliant colors and designs gives them a wide selection and a novel way to create -- and often results in many gifts for their loved ones. The paint sticks produce vibrant reproductions of famous art work or recreations of our classroom books. And glue ... we always need glue. They are thrilled to have access to glue for their constructing and sculpting needs.\r\n\r\nThese art tools support our kindergarten scholars' emotional self-regulation and fuel their creative spirit, expression, and learning for strong core memories, positive early learning experiences, and lifelong artistic endeavors.\r\n\r\nThank you so very much for your generosity to us!","fullyFundedDate":1733284223424,"projectUrl":"project/art-from-the-start/8979641/","projectTitle":"Art From the Start","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp408391_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516850295773","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/christy-taylor"},{"teacherId":408391,"projectId":8979322,"letterContent":"Our class was ELATED to receive this gift. They work very well together to design, construct, and even rebuild or redesign their masterpieces together. I would say these are the most used activity because the class can be most independent with the magnatiles.\r\n\r\nPuzzles have served to build language and a shared sense of purpose and task accomplishment celebrated together. The joint deliberation over which puzzle to begin, the passing of pieces that fit another person's section. Thirty-one generous families. This is by far the largest collaboration of givers I have ever received—and by far the biggest impact in my classroom. Thank you!\r\n\r\nYour investment is multiplied not only in this year but in years to come as children build and accelerate their reading skills. What a gift in literacy you have given to my students. \r\n\r\nOur school year began with most students not knowing letter sounds. Now kindergarteners are breaking words apart to write them, telling me the sounds, writing the sounds, and putting all those sounds together to read. Weekly we are growing: me as an educator accelerating my teaching and students advancing in reading. Their eyes twinkle as we celebrate their learning.\r\n\r\nEach 5 year old's confidence and willingness to try hard new things has grown because my students not only experience strong support but also the success of growing as readers and writers. Families are so eager to share how their child is attempting to read words everywhere ... sound by sound they work through the word to read it. It's truly an amazing experience for everyone involved.\r\n\r\nLearning is transferring outside of our reading block to all other areas. Students ask me what sounds are needed for messages that they want to send to their families. Student interests in airplanes, Mario and Sonic, fireworks, snowflakes and rainbows are no longer picture representations but now written expression to communicate with others. \r\n\r\nYour work and generous investment has changed the literacy stories of each child in our classroom this year ... and every child who will enter in the years to come. \r\n\r\nThank you for joining together to give every child the right to read and to change the course of their lives, their families, and their communities. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping our kindergarteners rocket into reading.","fullyFundedDate":1724428441901,"projectUrl":"project/rocket-into-reading/8501048/","projectTitle":"Rocket into Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp408391_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516850295773","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/christy-taylor"},{"teacherId":9651494,"projectId":8649028,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the materials to provided for our TK Class.
