They loved experimenting with color mixing, brush techniques, and designing their own mini \"art exhibits\" on the poster boards.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments was when students painted the clear ornaments to represent their dreams and cultural stories. Many of them had only ever been able to share instruments or rely on pencil-and-paper practice before, so the chance to sit down at their own keyboard felt like a game-changer. One student even said, \"Now we can finally hear what we're writing!\"—which perfectly captures the excitement and relief they felt.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the keyboards, we've been able to dive into real-time practice with voice leading, chord progressions, and ear training. Instead of waiting their turn or working abstractly, students can now immediately apply the concepts we're studying, experiment with different harmonies, and get instant feedback on how their ideas sound. Just last week, the class broke into small groups to create short compositions using secondary dominants, and the keyboards made it possible for every student to contribute fully and confidently.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students is to continue developing their composition and analysis skills as they prepare for the AP exam in the spring. Having access to these keyboards gives them the freedom to experiment, collaborate, and deepen their musical understanding in a way that wasn't possible before.
