Like, suspiciously quiet. That's because thanks to you, my students are READING, and not just because I told them to.\r\n\r\n\"Building a Library Where None Exists\" didn't just give us books, it gave my students choices, ownership, and honestly, a little bit of magic. Before this, many of my kids didn't have easy access to books they actually wanted to read. Now? They walk in asking, \"Do we have reading time today?\" (I know... I was surprised too.)\r\n\r\nWith these new books, we're working on all the important skills, theme, character development, making inferences, and backing up ideas with text evidence, but it doesn't feel like pulling teeth anymore. They're doing it naturally because they're invested in the stories. It turns out, when kids like what they're reading, they suddenly become much better readers. Who knew? đ\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom now looks like students sprawled out with books, whispering, \"You HAVE to read this one next,\" and trying to sneak in \"just one more page.\" I even have a few students who used to avoid reading like it was a pop quiz who are now fully hooked.\r\n\r\nOne student told me, \"I didn't think I liked reading... I just didn't like the books before.\" That one hit me right in the teacher heart.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students aren't just completing assignments, they're becoming readers. And in a world full of distractions, that is a BIG deal.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible, for believing in my kids, and for helping turn our classroom into a place where books are actually fought over (in a good way, I promise).","fullyFundedDate":1774314331414,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-library-where-none-exists/10102840/","projectTitle":"Building a Library Where None Exists","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Day","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7844644_orig.jpg?crop=1079,1079,x0,y179&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751113980816","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7844644"},{"teacherId":7844644,"projectId":10095903,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to our project, Fueling Creativity Through Writing. In a middle school classroom, the right resources can completely flip the script on a student's day, and that is exactly what your donation has done.\r\n\r\nTeaching literature to middle schoolers is all about moving from \"what happened?\" to \"why does it matter?\" These new texts are helping us tackle some big skills:\r\nCritical Analysis: We're looking at character motivationâbasically, figuring out why people do the things they do.\r\nThe \"Mirror\" Effect: Many of my students are seeing their own lived experiences reflected in these pages for the first time, which is a massive win for engagement.\r\n\r\nIf you walked into my room right now, you'd see a vibe that's part library, part cafĂ©.
