Because of your kindness, our classroom now has a Heggerty Phonemic Awareness book to strengthen our students' early reading skills.\r\n\r\nMy students are already excited to use it during our daily lessons. This resource helps them build confidence with sounds, rhyming, and blending—important steps toward becoming fluent readers. It's amazing to see their smiles and hear their growing success each day.\r\n\r\nYour contribution is making a real difference in our classroom. Students now come into the clinic and feel relaxed as soon as they come in, no more fear, welcoming feelings and reducing anxiety. Our sensory pathway decals lead the way into the clinic for my small Pre-K students many of which is there first time coming to the clinic. Our Star Projector helps turn our clinic into a starry night for our students especially when they come in for headaches or migraines.\r\n\r\n Some supplies were restock for the clinic like our paper cups for our filtered water and students who are taking medication. Instant cold pack for when our ice machine is down and student come in from the playground with injuries. Face masks since Fall is our busiest time in the clinic due to allergies and coughs going around. Band-Aids for our cuts, scrapes, bumps and bruises which we use on the daily basis.\r\n\r\n Lastly, equipment for the clinic which has helped me keep more a organized clinic. Desk power strip so that I can have all the monitors open and powered without having cables flying everywhere. Laminating paper which I use to label safety instructions such as food allergies, or first aid sheets for teacher and staff. Binders to keep clinic paperwork organized and colorful to match our clinic. Students need headphones for technology almost everyday. We also use technology for tests, assignments, and activities during English Language Arts time. We usually have supplies at the beginning of the year but they never last until the end. We have been blessed to have brand new working headphones to hear the information for the lessons or activities. I will also reuse these again and again for other students next year. My class was super excited to have new headphones to use and I let them know they were donated for us! They expressed their thanks and were smiling ear to ear! They also thought it was cool to have a few colorful options to use instead of just plain ones. We have enjoyed having these new supplies and appreciate all of the donors who contributed. Without the extra help I would have had to purchase some on my own, and I wouldn't be able to provide my class with what they needed. You have made it possible and it makes a difference! Some ladies are too shy to ask their teachers (even if their teacher is a woman) for period products. Having the products right there in the bathroom decreases the risk of young girls using toilet paper, rags, towels or leaking through their clothes. Since we have put the station out we have had less young girls come to the clinic for leaking or a change of clothes for not being able to get their period products on time.\r\n\t\r\n\tAll the ladies were gathered and we unveiled the menstruation station, they were smiling, clapping, cheering, laughing, whistling, and chanting. They have been asking their teachers and the school counselor for something like this for a while but due to funding issues we were unable to obtain it for them. The ladies were so happy and have been taking care of the station very well; refilling it, only using it for emergencies, and keeping it neat.\r\n\r\n\tIn the clinic I plan on working on more health projects for my little ones and basic health needs. Since your donation I have been able to sweep, mop, and vacuum the floors daily which before the night crew would do a \"quick clean\", missing several spots in the clinic. \r\n\r\n This winter season I've had many students with the flu, walking pneumonia, and stomach viruses. This lead to many students vomiting in the clinic during the week back to back. I put a powder on the vomit which solidified it, then sweep up as much as I can, then vacuum up the remains of the powder (sometimes gets on the clinic rugs), and then mop to sanitize any residue. Your donation had allowed me to clean up and sanitize the area quickly before other students come in to see me. Minimizing the spread of germs and having a clean clinic to recover before being sent home.\r\n\r\n You made a difference for me and 453 elementary school students, from a first year clinic nurse, THANK YOU!","fullyFundedDate":1722303528054,"projectUrl":"project/wash-me-nurses-office-edition/8473320/","projectTitle":"Wash Me! : Nurse's Office Edition","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nurse Mendoza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4132248_orig.jpg?crop=2520,2520,x540,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719588962336","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4132248"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_129090","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":231,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":76,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.8,"schoolId":129090,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Buckner Preparatory School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Buckner Preparatory School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/buckner-preparatory-school/129090"}
