The students first reaction was awe, eager to see how they could use it to keep up with all that they had to do. \r\n\r\nAs for the next steps, a as teacher I might plan to integrate these tools into more complex projects. Perhaps they're starting a unit on the college of their choice, and students will use the supplies to help create a presentation to present in class. The new resources has helped my classroom become a space to think and calm down in and recover from whatever that may have bothered them throughout their day. We are using the notebooks to write down and discus their feeling in a safe space. A specific classroom moment was one of my girls did not understand how to verbally express herself but she loved to write. The notebooks gave her a place to put all her misunderstandings in and project them outwardly.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials? They thought Christmas had come again and they couldn't believe the notebooks and nice pens were for them. Its safe to say they were blown away.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students is to continue to use the skills that has been taught to them about journaling and calming down. The journal notebooks and pens will give them the tools to reflect are simply write down their feelings.
