Even though we are towards the end of the school year, my students are utilizing the new headphones and are grateful for having new pairs that work. One student even said, \"I love these new headphones! They're so much nicer than my last pair.\" The students think the swivel design of the headphones is the coolest thing, as well.\r\n\r\nHaving a pair of headphones in our classroom is important because we do a lot of independent work and learning on the computer through programs our school purchased. We specifically utilize the Lexia Core 5 program and IXL for practicing skills. When students do not have headphones, it makes it difficult to concentrate and put their full attention into learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, my students are now all able to fully focus on their work in the classroom. I no longer hear student computers when I'm trying to work with other students, which is also very helpful to me and the students I work with during small group time. These headphones will continue to be a blessing for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1746549225354,"projectUrl":"project/listening-and-learning-headphones-for/9295841/","projectTitle":"Listening and Learning - Headphones for Our Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Klersy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9939209_orig.jpg?crop=1478,1478,x336,y904&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746495804458","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9939209"},{"teacherId":9939209,"projectId":9329964,"letterContent":"My students are absolutely loving the new STEM materials that you have added to our classroom! Their faces were all smiles when I shared that people had donated these materials to our classroom, and they could not wait to get their hands on them. They were begging to use them the same day they came in because they love building things and creating real-life items.\r\n\r\nThe first day they used them, I encouraged them to just explore the materials and make things that were familiar to them, like flowers and cars. I have also since given them challenges of building certain things from the STEM materials, such as a bridge or a tall tower.\r\n\r\nWhile we are approaching the end of the school year and my students this year will have limited time with the materials, I have plans in the works for next school year. I am looking forward to planning monthly STEM challenges for next year to help my students work on their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Learning sticks when you make it fun and engaging, and I know that my students will not only be learning, but also making memories that they can keep with them for a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1746657052093,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-better-future-through-stem/9329964/","projectTitle":"Building a Better Future Through STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Klersy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9939209_orig.jpg?crop=1478,1478,x336,y904&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746495804458","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9939209"},{"teacherId":6419481,"projectId":8873687,"letterContent":"My students were so excited when boxes started coming to the classroom. They wanted to see what was in them and immediately wanted to start playing with the different letter games. For my students who need large amounts of repetition it has been so helpful to have many different hands on manipulatives for them. We can work on the same skill over and over but it looks new so it keeps their attention. \r\n Even my highest students who already know the letters have been playing the letter Go Fish game. Since they know letters they are able to work on following directions and strategy. Most of my students have neve played games before at home so it's good to work on rules, strategy, turn taking, and playing fair/sportsmanship with them. \r\n I have one student who hadn't learned any new letters this year. He wasn't regressing, but he also wasn't making any gains. Since getting these materials, he has learned 3 new letters. He has a lot of energy and does better with hands on things. Having a variety of hands on letters has really helped him. I expect to see more growth as we continue to use these materials.","fullyFundedDate":1739467016433,"projectUrl":"project/alphabet-soup/8873687/","projectTitle":"Alphabet Soup","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. O'Brien","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6419481_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723918995816","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6419481"},{"teacherId":2196035,"projectId":8803046,"letterContent":"My students a\r\nnd I greatly appreciate your donation to our classroom locker project. With your donation, we were able to get two sets of lockers so that each student has their own locker compartment to put their backpack, jacket and other items that go to and from school with them each day. These lockers have helped us create an organized routine for students as they come in and unpack their things each morning. Each student locker is labeled with a name, so that they know exactly where to put their things when they enter the classroom in the morning. Even more important, they are able to do it independently! Since the lockers have been in our classroom, we have not had a single item mix up with students. In an Autistic Support classroom, it can be difficult to keep track of each student's items, since some students have difficulty identifying what is theirs and other students are not able to verbalize that they are missing something.\r\nThanks again for your extremely generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1730395721953,"projectUrl":"project/lockers-for-little-learners/8803046/","projectTitle":"Lockers for Little Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McBride","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2196035_orig.jpg?crop=614,614,x96,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1635288796161","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melanie-mcbride"},{"teacherId":8104372,"projectId":9005662,"letterContent":"I teach in a 1-3rd grade Autistic Support classroom at an Elementary School in the Allentown School District. Many students from the school come from diverse backgrounds, and are primarily from low-income families, so I try to make their experiences as enriching and enjoyable as possible to expand their knowledge base and experiences, even as simple as letting them try different types of food. We also work a lot on social skills and everyday skills that will be important for their futures. All of my students are so unique and special in all different ways. Some of my students are interested in music, art, playing video games, among many other interests. My students come from other teachers than last year so there was a lot of adjustments for all of us to get used to and work together getting to know each of my students. The students have a primary disability category of Autistic/Autism. They receive Autistic Support services and have goals in the areas of reading, mathematics, and some with behaviors. We work every day to keep students engaged and motivated to learn more and explore both their strengths and needs.\r\n\r\nThey enjoy having hands-on work and activities for lessons to grasp the content and concepts, but we don't receive much assistance financially from the school district; therefore, when we had our project funded fully I was beyond thrilled. My students also were so excited. They considered it like Christmas morning (sort of literally) getting to unpack and take out the materials we received. We are all so appreciative of the generous donors who wanted to help us, as well as the kind words so many of the donors had to say about myself. I look forward to continuing exploring the world of Donors Choose. Additionally, many of my students receive supports in Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy so using hands-on materials is very helpful to benefit them individually. Lately we have been working on their writing skills, to gauge how much improvement we may make by the end of this school year.\r\n\r\nMy students mean so much to me. We work with them daily on the ability to follow rules and routines. They are fun-loving, caring, helpful, and protective in the classroom. They are curious and love creating arts and crafts. A few of my students have natural leadership characteristics, which we are appreciative of. This year they have also improved their communication and coping skills. Overall, each student is working on alphabet categorizing with vocabulary and visuals. We have already started making new task boxes and materials with the laminating and velcro! Thank you again! We have great things planned for this classroom!!","fullyFundedDate":1734324726377,"projectUrl":"project/autistic-support-classroom-reading-resou/9005662/","projectTitle":"Autistic Support Classroom Reading Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bruno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8104372_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1649284891362","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8104372"},{"teacherId":8104372,"projectId":8924515,"letterContent":"Our classroom has enjoyed creating projects and creations using magnet tiles, but we never had enough for everyone to have an equal or fair amount per student.
