I teach a class full of uniquely-abled students who are often defined by their inabilities vs potential. I believe all students can make a positive difference in this world and are more than a label says they can be. \r\nThis coffee cart and supplies has been an amazing addition to our weekly activities. Every Friday, students serve iced or hot coffee and tea to teachers. This year we provided the opportunity to purchase \"loyalty punch cards\" and the teachers have loved this. \r\nStudents not only learn the barista job skills, they learn communication and social skills. They are learning the value of serving others, following step by step directions, serving specific drink orders (that's right ! Starbucks look out!), and how to greet and extend gratitude to customers. \r\nMy students have flourished and look forward to working the Bistro each week. It has been a powerful motivator for behavior and effort they extend throughout the week. The smiles on their faces during their \"shifts\" are incredible. Students who wouldn't normally verbally interact, invite others to order coffee. Students who struggle following directions are getting to practice that - AND doing it!\r\nYou have given my students the chance to learn and practice real world skills that CAN and WILL translate to their future lives. \r\nThank you will never be enough.
